Ongoing offer: Marriott Bonvoy Escapes (20% off last-minute bookings)

Marriott’s recurring last-minute discount programme (official page🔗) opens for booking every other week from Wednesday through Sunday: Bonvoy members receive 20% off standard rates, while non-members receive 15% off. You can book stays during the next four weekends (Thursday through Sunday; resorts are available any day), and bookings must be made at least five days in advance.

Keep in mind that these rates are fully prepaid, non-cancellable, and non-changeable. Participating hotels and inventory vary each round, and some dates are excluded. Compare the rate with the member prepaid rate before booking; if the difference is small, giving up cancellation flexibility may not be worth it. Stays still earn Bonvoy points and elite-night credits.

This is best for readers with firm plans who need a last-minute hotel booking. Check the official page for each round’s participating hotel list.

October 8, 2026 update: Centennial Sweepstakes, 100,000 points (until October 31, 2026)

Marriott’s Centennial Sweepstakes: upload a photo or video from a stay at a Marriott hotel, along with the story behind it, at yourmarriottstory.com. You could win 100,000 Bonvoy points (about $700–$800), and a winning story may also appear in the official anniversary film.

Entry is free. The deadline is October 31. You must be 18 or older, and only some countries and regions can enter. A winner who lives in Canada has to answer a skill-testing question.

October 5, 2026 update: Homes & Villas, 3,000 extra points per night (until March 31, 2027)

The offer, on the Homes & Villas by Marriott Bonvoy site:

  • Reward: an eligible stay earns an extra 3,000 Marriott Bonvoy points per night, up to 12,000 points per stay (counted on a maximum of 4 nights).
  • Book by: October 5 through November 13, 2026 (before 11:59 p.m. ET).
  • Stay window: October 7, 2026 through March 31, 2027.

Terms and limits

  1. Elite status: Silver Elite and above only.
  2. Registration: sign in and register for the offer before you book.
  3. Length of stay: at least 2 consecutive nights in the same home.
  4. Spend minimum: qualifying charges for the stay must total USD 1,500 (or the equivalent in another currency).

Transfer rules

  • The standard ratio is 3:1 (30,000 Bonvoy points become 10,000 Aeroplan points).
  • For every 60,000 Bonvoy points transferred, Marriott adds 5,000 Aeroplan points.
  • Aeroplan applies the 15% bonus in the background, so it will not appear on Marriott’s transfer page.
  • The bonus posts 8–10 weeks after the promotion ends.
  • The minimum transfer is 3,000 points, and the maximum in any 24-hour period is 240,000 points.

Does the 5,000-point bonus on the 60,000-point tier also receive the 15% bonus? Air Canada’s official promotion email explicitly says that the extra 5,000 miles “also count for the 15% bonus offer,” so the 15% is calculated on 25,000 points.

September 29, 2026 — Buy points: 55% bonus (until November 23)

In short: From September 29 through November 23, 2026, Marriott Bonvoy is offering a 55% bonus when you buy or gift points, as long as the purchase or gift is at least 2,000 points. The yearly purchase cap is temporarily raised from 150,000 to 200,000 points. After the bonus, the cost is about 0.806 US cents per point. It is the richest points sale of 2026, and the highest bonus since November 2020 (October 2021 also reached 55%, so the two are tied).

Price and cost

Unlike the previous round (August–September, tiered at 30% / 40%), this round is not tiered: buying 2,000 points and buying 200,000 points costs the same per point.

A typical valuation for Marriott points is about 0.7–0.9 US cents. At 0.806¢, this sale sits in the middle of that range.

How it compares with past sales

  • This is Marriott’s fourth points sale of 2026, and the richest one this year.
  • The previous round (August–September) was a tiered 30% / 40% bonus. This 55% bonus is the highest since November 2020 (October 2021 also reached 55%, so the two are tied).
  • Marriott has occasionally offered a targeted 60% bonus (there was no sitewide 60% in 2023–2024), so a sitewide 55% is near the recent ceiling, but it is not the all-time high.

When it fits, and when it does not

  • A better fit: you already have a redemption in mind and only need a few tens of thousands of points to get there; a high-end hotel’s points price is well below the cash rate; you can stretch the stay with “stay 5, pay for 4”; or you need to move points to an airline that does not sell its own miles (Bonvoy transfers at 3:1, so 60,000 points become 25,000 miles — about 2 US cents per mile, usually a poor deal and only a backup).

  • A poor fit: you have no plan and want to stockpile points (they lose value, and Marriott already uses dynamic pricing); an ordinary redemption worth less than 0.85¢ per point; or you hope buying points will help you reach elite status — purchased and gifted points do not count toward elite status.

⚠️ A note for readers in Canada

  • Residents of Canada also pay GST/HST (Quebec adds QST). At British Columbia’s 5% GST, the real cost is about 0.847 US cents per point. At Ontario’s 13% HST, it is about 0.911 US cents. Tax eats into part of the discount.
  • The charge is in US dollars, so anyone paying in Canadian dollars also has to account for the exchange rate and any foreign transaction fee on the card.

September 22, 2026 — Q3 stay bonus: 1,500 or 4,500 points for two nights (until November 13)

  • Regular hotels: during the promotion, each paid stay of at least 2 nights earns 1,500 bonus points.
  • Resorts: a stay at a Marriott resort earns an extra 3,000 points, so one stay can earn up to 4,500 bonus points.

What to watch for:

  • Register first. Sign in on Marriott’s website or app and register on the Promotions page. Only stays after you register count.
  • Room rules: cash stays only. Stays paid with points, a free-night award, or points plus cash usually do not count.
  • Night minimum: the stay has to be 2 nights or more. A one-night stay does not earn this bonus.

September 8, 2026 update: 🇺🇸 U.S. Amex Offer, spend $450 at Marriott and get $200 back (until November 30, 2026)

July 1, 2026 update: 2,000 extra points per night at selected brands (OFF-168819) (until June 30, 2027)

  • Participating brands: AC Hotels, Courtyard, Fairfield, Four Points by Sheraton, and Postcard Cabins. Earn 2,000 bonus points per paid night.
  • Enter promo code 53M when booking on the website or app, or call 1-800-MARRIOTT and quote the code.
  • Stay window: July 1, 2026–June 30, 2027. The offer applies to one regular room per member per night, with no cap on bonus points earned during the promotion.
  • Cannot be combined with other offers. Group bookings of 10 or more rooms and members who elect to earn airline miles do not qualify. Blackout dates may apply, and advance reservations are required.

Expired promotions

October 8, 2026 update: new Marriott Bonvoy Escapes, 20% off (until October 11, 2026) (expired)

  • A new round of Marriott Bonvoy Escapes: promo code QRI (check the official Escapes page before booking to confirm the code was valid), members saved up to 20% and non-members 15%, and about 2,500 hotels participated. The booking deadline was October 11, with stays from October 12 through November 1, limited to Thursday through Sunday (resorts were available any day). St. Regis, Ritz-Carlton, Edition, Bulgari, Design Hotels and Homes & Villas did not participate.

August 3, 2026 update: 50% bonus on purchased points (until September 9) (expired)
