Merchant category coding and third-party payment methods may affect eligibility.

Benefits & Insurance

  • Complimentary Marriott Bonvoy Gold Elite Status

The Basic Card Member receives Marriott Bonvoy Gold Elite Status. Initial status after opening the account may take up to 12 weeks to be awarded. At eligible Marriott Bonvoy room rates, the status may provide room-upgrade opportunities and a 25% bonus on base points from stays. The status provided by this card ends when the account is cancelled.

  • Annual Free Night Award

After each account anniversary month, the Basic Card Member receives one Free Night Award redeemable for a night costing up to 35,000 Marriott Bonvoy points. It is usually deposited into the linked account within 8–12 weeks after the anniversary month. The award expires one year after issuance, cannot be combined with cash, and may be topped up or redeemed with up to 25,000 additional points under Marriott’s terms. Applicable resort fees and incidental charges remain the cardmember’s responsibility, and redemption is subject to room availability.

  • Free Night Award after $60,000 in spending

For each calendar year in which eligible purchases reach $60,000, the Basic Card Member can receive another Free Night Award redeemable for a night costing up to 35,000 points. Spending is reduced by returns and credits; fees, interest, cash advances, travellers cheques, prepaid cards, gift cards, person-to-person payments, and other cash equivalents do not count. The award is usually deposited within 8–12 weeks after qualifying and expires one year after issuance.

  • 15 Elite Night Credits

Receive 15 Elite Night Credits each calendar year toward Marriott Bonvoy elite status. The first credits after opening are usually deposited within 60 days; later credits are deposited no later than March 1 each year. The Basic Card account must remain open and be linked to a valid Marriott Bonvoy membership account. Marriott Bonvoy account-level limits apply to stacking elite-night credits from personal and business cards.

  • Marriott Bonvoy Room Rate Discount – Amex Business Card Rate

The Basic Card Member must also be a Marriott Bonvoy member and book an eligible standard room directly at a participating property through Marriott.com, the Marriott app, a global reservations centre, or another eligible channel while selecting the Amex Business Card Rate. The rate provides a total 7% discount from the standard flexible rate. Some brands and stay types are excluded, and a valid Marriott Bonvoy account is required at booking.

  • Premium on-property Internet Access

Receive complimentary premium in-room internet access during stays at participating Marriott Bonvoy hotels. The booking channel and room rate must meet the hotel’s applicable requirements.

  • Air+Car Transfer Program

Marriott Bonvoy points can be converted to participating airline and rental-car partners. Participating partners, conversion ratios, and program rules may change, so check Marriott’s current terms before transferring.

  • Global Assist Hotline

When more than 100 miles from home, use 24/7 emergency assistance and coordination services, including medical and legal referrals, emergency cash transfers, and lost-luggage assistance. American Express does not charge a separate coordination fee, but the cardmember is responsible for fees charged by third-party service providers.

  • Employee Cards

Set spending limits on Employee Cards and receive real-time purchase alerts. Eligible employee spending also earns Marriott Bonvoy points for the Basic Card account. Limits are not guaranteed to apply to every transaction, and the Basic Card account remains responsible for the final bill.

  • Connect to QuickBooks

Once enabled, business-card transactions can be sent to QuickBooks Online to help organize business expenses. Compatibility is subject to the service terms in effect from American Express and Intuit.

  • American Express Venue Collection™ Concessions Statement Credit

After adding the offer to the card, receive a 10% statement credit on eligible food and beverage purchases at sports venues and arenas participating in the American Express Venue Collection. The maximum is $250 per calendar year, and each cardmember may register only one card. The current terms show that the offer ends December 31, 2026; credits are usually posted within 30 days, though some may take up to 90 days.
