【October 15, 2026 update】 🇨🇦 TD Aeroplan cards: 5x points on selected streaming and subscription spend, capped at $750 (registration required)

TD Aeroplan cardholders can now register for a new earning bonus: selected streaming and subscription spend at merchants such as Netflix, Disney+, Spotify, and Apple earns 5x points relative to each card’s base rate (Privilege 6.25x, Infinite / Business 5x, Platinum 3.35x). Spend is capped at $750, and the offer runs through October 13, 2027. The $750 cap is per person, so holding more than one card does not stack it. You must register before you spend. • Emergency Travel Assistance Services

This is not insurance. Global Excel provides 24-hour multilingual medical referrals, medical advice and transport coordination, payment coordination, and help with legal issues, emergency cash, documents, baggage, and translation. If the administrator pays a service cost for you, it is usually charged to the card, and you still have to repay it.

Travel insurance

Official insurance certificate 🔗

  • Travel Medical Insurance

An eligible primary cardholder who is a Canadian resident, has provincial or territorial health coverage, and keeps the account in good standing, plus their spouse and eligible children, is covered for a sudden and unforeseen medical emergency after leaving their home province or territory, up to $2,000,000 per person per covered trip. The trip does not have to be paid with this card. Coverage is only the first 15 consecutive days away for people under 65, and only the first 4 days for people 65 or older. The departure day counts as a full day. A pre-existing condition must have been stable for 90 days before departure if you are under 65, or 180 days if you are 65 or older. This coverage pays after provincial health insurance and other insurance. Contact the administrator immediately, or eligible expenses are usually paid at only 80%, up to $30,000. Treatment or tests that need advance approval are usually not paid if they were not approved. When you claim, you must provide proof of departure and submit the forms and proof within one year of the loss.

  • Trip Cancellation Insurance

If you cancel before departure for a medical or non-medical reason listed in the certificate, and at least 75% of the covered trip was charged to this card and/or paid with Aeroplan points, the limit is $1,500 per insured person per trip and $5,000 combined for the same trip. Eligible unused, non-refundable arrangements can be covered. Foreseeable situations, causes that are not listed, and other exclusions in the certificate are not covered. Cancel with the travel supplier first, and notify the administrator immediately and no later than 24 hours after the covered cause. Claim proof must be submitted within one year.

  • Trip Interruption Insurance

If at least 75% of the covered trip was charged to this card and/or paid with Aeroplan points, and a reason listed in the certificate stops you from continuing, the limit is $5,000 per insured person per trip and $25,000 combined for the same trip. After approval, that can include a one-way economy ticket home or a change fee, and some unused, non-refundable ground arrangements. Transportation costs must be approved by the administrator in advance. Contact the administrator immediately and within 24 hours to discuss other arrangements, and submit claim proof within one year.

  • Flight / Trip Delay Insurance

If at least 75% of a qualifying common-carrier fare was charged to this card and/or paid with Aeroplan points, and the trip is delayed at least four hours by severe weather, equipment failure, or an unforeseen strike or labour action, you can claim reasonable meals, accommodation, and extra ground transportation, up to $500. Events you knew about before booking, labour disputes announced in advance, some government orders, and service withdrawals or bomb-related events listed in the certificate are not covered. Notify the administrator within 45 days of the delay and submit the form and proof within 90 days.

  • Common Carrier Travel Accident Insurance

Accidental death or a specified loss while you are riding in, boarding, leaving, or travelling directly to or from a covered common carrier is covered up to $500,000. The fare must be charged in full to this card, paid in full with Aeroplan points, or, after a partial points redemption, the balance charged in full to this card. The account must be in good standing and not more than 90 days past due. Acting as a pilot or crew member, intentional self-harm, and war or civil unrest as the certificate lists them are not covered. Report the loss within 30 days and submit proof within 90 days.

  • Delayed Baggage Insurance

If a common carrier’s checked bag is delayed more than six hours after you arrive at the final destination, and at least 75% of the ticket was charged to this card and/or paid with Aeroplan points, you can claim essential clothing and toiletries bought before the bag is returned. Spending is limited to the first 96 hours after arrival. This coverage shares a maximum of $1,000 per covered person per trip with Lost Baggage Insurance. A delay on the return to your home province or territory, bags that were not checked, cash, documents, and purchases after the bag is returned are not covered. Notify the administrator within 45 days and submit the claim documents within 90 days.

  • Lost Baggage Insurance

If a common carrier never finds an eligible checked bag, and at least 75% of the ticket was charged to this card and/or paid with Aeroplan points, you can claim the cost of replacing lost personal items that the carrier and other insurance have not paid. This coverage shares a maximum of $1,000 per covered person per trip with Delayed Baggage Insurance, and it applies only while the bag is in the carrier’s custody. Bags that were not checked, cash, documents, and amounts already paid by the carrier or other insurance are not covered. Notify the administrator within 45 days of the loss and submit the claim documents within 90 days.

  • Auto Rental Collision / Loss Damage Insurance

The primary cardholder must start and finish the entire rental with this same card, pay the full rental cost with it, and decline the rental company’s CDW or equivalent coverage in the rental agreement. Personal and business use can both qualify. The rental cannot run longer than 48 consecutive days. It can cover loss, theft, actual cash value, and valid loss-of-use charges on an eligible rental. It is usually primary coverage, subject to the certificate and local law. Third-party liability, bodily injury, property other than the rental car, driving while intoxicated, breaking the rental agreement, and vehicle types the certificate excludes are not covered. Report an accident or theft within 48 hours, send the first documents within 45 days, and complete all documents within 90 days.

  • Hotel / Motel Burglary Insurance

For a stay at an eligible hotel or motel in Canada or the United States, at least 75% of the room cost must be charged to this card and/or paid with Aeroplan points. If there is evidence of forced entry and a theft, the limit is $2,500 per occurrence for all insured persons combined, and it pays after the hotel and other insurance. Private homes rented through an online platform, cash, securities, credit cards, tickets, and documents are not covered. Report it to the police immediately, notify the insurer no later than 45 days after the loss, and submit proof within one year.

Purchase insurance

  • Purchase Security

When you buy a new item and charge at least 75% of the purchase price to this card, you have worldwide coverage for direct physical loss or damage for 90 days after purchase. The payout does not exceed the purchase price, and this pays after other available insurance. The lifetime combined limit is $60,000 per account holder across all TD credit cards. Used items, services, motor vehicles, normal wear, unexplained disappearance, and inherent product defects are among the exclusions. Notify the administrator within 45 days of the loss or damage and return the claim report and proof within 90 days.

  • Extended Warranty Protection

When you buy a new item, charge at least 75% of the purchase price to this card, and the item has a manufacturer’s warranty valid in Canada, the original warranty is extended by the length of that warranty or by one year, whichever is shorter, after the manufacturer’s warranty ends. Items with an original warranty of five years or less are covered automatically. Longer warranties must be registered with the administrator in the first year after purchase. This shares the $60,000 lifetime combined TD credit-card limit per account holder with Purchase Security. Used items, motor vehicles, wear, misuse, improper installation or alteration, and indirect loss are not covered. Notify the administrator within 45 days of the loss and get approval before repair or replacement.

  • Mobile Device Insurance

When you buy a new phone, smartphone, or tablet, at least 75% of the total price must be charged to this card. Or you can buy it on a monthly plan and charge every wireless bill to this card for the whole plan. For an eligible device that is lost, stolen, accidentally damaged, or mechanically broken, the maximum is $1,000, after 2% depreciation for each full month and a deductible of $25 to $100 based on the device cost. Coverage starts on the later of 30 days after purchase and the date the first wireless bill posts to this card, and it ends no later than two years after purchase. Across all accounts, the limit is one claim in any 12 consecutive months and two claims in 48 months. Most used or refurbished devices, accessories, batteries, cosmetic damage, unexplained disappearance, and software or network problems are not covered. Repair or replacement must be approved by the insurer first. Contact the insurer within 30 days of the loss; for loss or theft also suspend wireless service within 48 hours, and for theft report to police within 7 days.

Take

If the business has steady spending on Air Canada, Hyatt, dining, transit, or telecom, the 1.5x / 2x earn rates and the 60,000-point welcome offer have real use. A free first checked bag for up to nine people on the same booking also suits someone who often travels with colleagues or family. On the other side, the $149 annual fee after the first year, the higher spend thresholds, and travel medical coverage of 15 days (only 4 days at age 65 or older) are costs and limits to add up before you apply.
