【October 15, 2026 update 2】 🇨🇦 TD Aeroplan cards: 5x points on selected streaming and subscription spend, capped at $750 (registration required)
TD Aeroplan cardholders can now register for a new earning bonus: selected streaming and subscription spend at merchants such as Netflix, Disney+, Spotify, and Apple earns 5x points relative to each card’s base rate (Privilege 6.25x, Infinite / Business 5x, Platinum 3.35x). Spend is capped at $750, and the offer runs through October 13, 2027. The $750 cap is per person, so holding more than one card does not stack it. You must register before you spend. Register on the official site (as of 2026-10-15; terms as published there).
【October 15, 2026 update 1】 Chexy has a new twist today: apply for a TD Aeroplan co-branded card through Chexy before October 14, 2027, and that card’s Chexy spend in the first year earns an extra 1 Aeroplan mile per dollar, up to $25,000. Three TD Aeroplan cards are in this offer. The other two are the Visa Infinite Privilege and the Visa Infinite.
Is it worth applying through Chexy? Run the opportunity cost. Paying bills on Chexy with a newly approved TD Aeroplan card replaces the card you were already using. If that Chexy spend was already earning 4% or 3% cash back, this is not worth doing.

Benefits and insurance
- Aeroplan Family Sharing
Aeroplan Family Sharing lets up to eight family members and friends share points. Membership, invitations, and how points can be used are managed by the Aeroplan program, not by this card on its own.
- Earn points twice with Aeroplan partners
When you pay with this card and give your Aeroplan number, you can earn both the points from this card and the Aeroplan points the partner or eStore offers, at more than 150 Aeroplan partner brands and at more than 200 online stores through the Aeroplan eStore. Which merchants and rewards apply follows Aeroplan’s current rules.
- TD All-Inclusive Banking Plan annual fee rebate
TD’s product page says pairing the card with the TD All-Inclusive Banking Plan can return this card’s annual fee every year. That card page does not list the account plan’s specific eligibility, amount, or how it works. Follow the official terms of that account plan.
- Earn more at Starbucks
After you link an eligible TD card, you can earn more Starbucks Stars at participating Starbucks locations. TD’s product page does not publish a fixed number of extra Stars, and the program has its own conditions.
- Uber One
Eligible TD cardholders can get a three-month free Uber One trial. TD’s product page says conditions apply. Eligibility and later charges follow Uber One’s terms.
- Avis / Budget discount
Rent a qualifying vehicle at participating Avis and Budget locations and you get at least 10% off the lowest available base rate in Canada and the United States, or at least 5% at other international locations. Vehicle, location, how you book, and blackout dates are set by the rental program.
- TD Payment Plans
Eligible purchases of $100 or more can be converted to a 6-, 12-, or 18-month payment plan. Whether a plan is available, the fees, and other limits follow TD’s program terms.
- Emergency Travel Assistance Services
This is not insurance. Global Excel provides 24-hour multilingual medical referrals, medical advice and transport coordination, payment coordination, and help with legal issues, emergency cash, documents, baggage, and translation. Any cost the administrator pays on your behalf is charged to this card, and you still have to repay it.
Travel insurance
Official insurance certificate 🔗
- Common Carrier Travel Accident Insurance
Accidental death or a specified loss while you are riding in, boarding, leaving, or travelling directly to or from a covered common carrier is covered up to $500,000. The fare must be charged in full to this card, paid in full with Aeroplan points, or, after a partial points redemption, the balance charged in full to this card. The account must be in good standing and not more than 90 days past due. Acting as a pilot or crew member, intentional self-harm, and war, riot, or civil unrest as the certificate lists them are not covered. Report the loss within 30 days and submit the form and proof within 90 days.
- Delayed Baggage Insurance
If a common carrier’s checked bag is delayed more than six hours after you arrive at the final destination, and at least 75% of the ticket was charged to this card and/or paid with Aeroplan points, you can claim essential clothing and toiletries bought before the bag is returned. Spending is limited to the first 96 hours after arrival. This coverage shares a maximum of $1,000 per covered person per trip with Lost Baggage Insurance. A delay on the return to your home province or territory, bags that were not checked, cash, documents, and purchases after the bag is returned are not covered. Notify the administrator within 45 days and submit the claim form and proof within 90 days.
- Lost Baggage Insurance
If a common carrier never finds an eligible checked bag, and at least 75% of the ticket was charged to this card and/or paid with Aeroplan points, you can claim the cost of replacing lost personal items that the carrier and other insurance have not paid. This coverage shares a maximum of $1,000 per covered person per trip with Delayed Baggage Insurance, and it applies only while the bag is in the carrier’s custody. Bags that were not checked, cash, documents, and amounts already paid by the carrier or other insurance are not covered. Notify the administrator within 45 days of the loss and submit the claim form and proof within 90 days.
- Flight / Trip Delay Insurance
If at least 75% of a qualifying common-carrier fare was charged to this card and/or paid with Aeroplan points, and the trip is delayed at least four hours by severe weather, equipment failure, or an unforeseen strike or labour action, you can claim reasonable meals, accommodation, and extra ground transportation, up to $500. Events you knew about before booking, labour disputes announced in advance, government orders, specified service withdrawals, and bomb searches or threats are not covered. This coverage pays after the carrier and other insurance. Notify the administrator within 45 days of the delay and submit the documents within 90 days.
- Auto Rental Collision / Loss Damage Insurance
You must complete the entire rental with this card, pay the full rental cost with it, and decline the rental company’s CDW or equivalent coverage in the rental agreement. The rental cannot run longer than 48 consecutive days. It can cover loss, theft, actual cash value, and valid loss-of-use charges on an eligible rental. It is usually primary coverage, subject to the certificate and local law. Third-party liability, bodily injury, property other than the rental car, driving while intoxicated, breaking the rental agreement, carrying cargo or passengers for hire, and vehicle types the certificate excludes are not covered. Report an accident or theft within 48 hours, send the first documents within 45 days, and complete all documents within 90 days.
- Hotel / Motel Burglary Insurance
For a stay at an eligible hotel or motel in Canada or the United States, at least 75% of the room cost must be charged to this card and/or paid with Aeroplan points. If there is evidence of forced entry and a theft, the limit is $2,500 per occurrence for all insured persons combined, and it pays after the hotel and other insurance. Private homes rented through an online platform, cash, securities, credit cards, tickets, and documents are not covered. Report it to the police immediately, notify the insurer no later than 45 days after the loss, and submit proof within one year.
Purchase insurance
- Purchase Security
When you buy a new item for personal use and charge at least 75% of the purchase price to this card, you have worldwide coverage for direct physical loss or damage for 90 days after purchase. The payout does not exceed the purchase price, and this pays after other available insurance. The lifetime combined limit is $60,000 per account holder across all TD credit cards. Used or commercial items, services, motor vehicles, normal wear, unexplained disappearance, and inherent product defects are among the exclusions. Notify the administrator within 45 days of the loss or damage and return the claim report and proof within 90 days.
- Extended Warranty Protection
When you buy a new item for personal use, charge at least 75% of the purchase price to this card, and the item has a manufacturer’s warranty valid in Canada, the original warranty is extended by the length of that warranty or by one year, whichever is shorter, after the manufacturer’s warranty ends. Items with an original warranty of five years or less are covered automatically. Longer warranties must be registered with the administrator in the first year after purchase. This shares the $60,000 lifetime combined TD credit-card limit per account holder with Purchase Security. Used or commercial items, motor vehicles, wear, misuse, improper installation or alteration, and indirect loss are not covered. Notify the administrator within 45 days of the loss and get approval before repair or replacement.
- Mobile Device Insurance
When you buy a new phone, smartphone, or tablet, at least 75% of the total price must be charged to this card. Or you can buy it on a monthly plan and charge every wireless bill to this card for the whole plan. For an eligible device that is lost, stolen, accidentally damaged, or mechanically broken, the maximum is $1,000, after 2% depreciation for each full month and a deductible of $25 to $100 based on the device cost. Coverage starts on the later of 30 days after purchase and the date the first wireless bill posts to this card, and it ends no later than two years after purchase. Across all accounts, the limit is one claim in any 12 consecutive months and two claims in 48 months. Commercial use, most used or refurbished devices, accessories, batteries, cosmetic damage, unexplained disappearance, and software or network problems are not covered. Repair or replacement must be approved by the insurer first. Contact the insurer within 30 days of the loss; for loss or theft also suspend wireless service within 48 hours, and for theft report to police within 7 days.
Take
The advantage of this card is a low bar to apply, a relatively manageable annual fee, and 1x points on gas, groceries, EV charging, and Air Canada. The $1,500 spend for 20,000 welcome points is also modest. If most of your spending sits outside those categories, everything else earns only 0.67x, and this card does not include a free first checked bag or automatic lounge access. It fits better as a basic Aeroplan card, or as a card whose annual fee is rebated.
