Scene+ at a Glance
Scene+ is a flexible Canadian rewards program that covers groceries, banking, movies and entertainment, dining, fuel, and travel. The program is jointly owned by Scotiabank, Cineplex, and Empire Company Limited, the parent company of grocery brands such as Sobeys.
The official website is sceneplus.ca. You can also download the Scene+ app from the Apple App Store or Google Play.
Point value: 1 point is worth 1 cent.
Expiry: Points do not expire as long as there is activity on the account within 24 months.

How to Earn Scene+ Points
The main ways to earn Scene+ points are through co-branded credit cards, everyday spending, and purchases with Scene+ partners.
Scotia Co-branded Cards
Scotiabank issues several Scene+ credit cards and debit cards, as well as options for students.

The Scotia Scene Visa Card for Students earns 2x at participating grocery stores, Home Hardware, and Cineplex, and 1x elsewhere.
Spending with Scene+ Partners
- Grocery (Sobeys, Safeway, Foodland, FreshCo, Thrifty Foods, IGA, Rache Bery, Les Marches Tradition, and Voilà)
You must activate a store-specific offer to earn points. Add the offer to your account before shopping, then scan your Scene+ membership barcode at checkout.
Offers can be viewed and loaded at mygroceryoffers.ca. Some offers may also need to be loaded through the individual store’s online account. These are promotions such as earning 50 or 100 points on a particular product.
- Movies (Cineplex)
Earn 5x points on movie tickets and food and drinks purchased at the theatre.
- Travel
Earn 3x points on hotels, rental cars, and guided tours booked through Scene+ Travel, Powered by Expedia.
- Home Improvement
Earn 50 points for every $50 spent at Home Hardware, in store or online at homehardware.ca.
- Retail
Link your rakuten.ca account to your Scene+ account to access selected bonus cash-back rates, paid as Scene+ points. For example, Rakuten.ca exclusive offers for Scene+ members can be higher than the rates available to non-members: lululemon may offer 5% to Scene+ members versus 2% to other members.

Earn 1x point on food, drinks, games, and other purchases.

Earn 0.33x points at participating restaurants, including dine-in and takeout orders.
- Pharmacy (Lawtons Drugs and the in-store pharmacies at Sobeys, Safeway, FreshCo, and Thrifty Foods)
In Nova Scotia, Manitoba, and Saskatchewan, earn 2x points on the full prescription price—not just the co-pay—up to 5,000 points per day.
- Fuel
Earn 1x point at Shell stations on fuel, car washes, and in-store purchases.
How to Use Scene+ Points
Scene+ redemptions are straightforward. There are no airline or hotel transfer partners, so there is little opportunity for complicated award-travel strategies. The points are effectively cash.
- Standard redemptions, around 1 cpp
At participating partners, including grocery stores, entertainment venues, and Expedia, redeem at 100 points = $1. At checkout, the cashier will ask whether you want to redeem points toward the purchase.
- Recommended redemption, 1 cpp
Use Apply Points to Travel to offset eligible travel purchases made with a Scotiabank card within the past 12 months. This can be useful even when plans change and a refundable trip is cancelled after the statement credit has posted.
On sceneplus.ca, go to Rewards ➡️ Travel ➡️ Apply Points to Travel. The system automatically shows eligible travel transactions from your linked Scotiabank cards over a selected period—90 days, six months, or 12 months. Eligible merchants are filtered into travel categories, such as airlines, hotels, and online travel agencies other than Expedia. After you redeem the points, the corresponding credit appears on your Scotiabank card statement within 2–5 business days.
- Lower-value redemptions, below 1 cpp
You can redeem points for gift cards on the official gift-card page🔗, but the value is usually below 1 cpp. Partner gift cards may redeem at 1 cpp, while other brands are generally around 0.71–0.78 cpp.
You can also use points for credit in your Scotia account to offset any purchase. This also gives you less than 1 cpp in value.
