SAS EuroBonus’s paid status match is now open for applications (official status-match page 🔗). When the offer first surfaced on October 6, it was still limited to a pending queue. Now elite members from 84 airlines can apply directly: no flight challenge, just pay the fee and receive the matched tier.

Who Can Apply: The Most Relevant Options for Canadian Readers

The offer covers elite members from most airlines outside SkyTeam:

Airline → Silver → Gold → Diamond
Air Canada Aeroplan 25K / 35K 50K 75K / Super Elite 100K
Alaska Airlines Atmos Rewards Silver Gold Platinum / Titanium
American Airlines AAdvantage Gold Platinum Platinum Pro / Executive Platinum / ConciergeKey
WestJet Rewards Silver Gold Platinum

Exclusions: elites from SkyTeam member airlines, Singapore Airlines, TAP, and Etihad are not eligible; residents of China, Brazil, and Argentina cannot apply.

Fees

  • Silver: €89
  • Gold: €199
  • Diamond: €349

Residents of Poland and India get discounted fees (€39 / €79 / €159), based on the country of residence verified at application and inclusive of tax.

Apply at sas.statusmatch.com. You may need to provide a photo of your status card and identity verification (passport or driver’s licence). The official statement says it will never ask for your airline account password—anyone who does is a scammer.

Validity and Key Terms

  • Matched status is valid for the remainder of the current membership year plus 12 months (up to 24 months).
  • It is issued directly after approval, with no flight challenge.
  • It includes all benefits for the matched tier, but does not include the membership giveaway benefit (giving status to friends or family), and this period does not count toward lifetime Gold or Diamond status.
  • You cannot use the match to extend status at the same tier you already hold.
  • There is currently no published end date, but a paid match like this can be pulled at any time.

Is It Worth It? SkyTeam Is the Key

SAS has joined SkyTeam, and EuroBonus Gold and Diamond map to SkyTeam Elite Plus—on Air France, KLM, Delta, and other SkyTeam members, you can access lounges plus the full SkyPriority package.

Here is the math: if you hold Aeroplan 50K and also regularly fly Air France or KLM, paying €199 for EuroBonus Gold gives you a second status covering the entire SkyTeam alliance, with lounge access across the network. Aeroplan 75K can go straight to Diamond for €349, adding a 30% discount on award tickets, points that never expire, and free same-day changes.

Conversely, if you only fly Air Canada or Star Alliance, this status is basically useless to you; save the money.
