The benefits teased when Aeroplan and World of Hyatt officially partnered in July have now delivered two pieces: Hyatt stays can earn both Hyatt points and Aeroplan points—1.5 Aeroplan points per eligible dollar—and the long-awaited 90-day Aeroplan elite-status challenge for World of Hyatt elites is now live.
1. Dual earning: Register by November 11 and stay through February 14, 2027
- On the World of Hyatt offer page, click Register and complete registration by November 11, 2026. It is not automatic.
- For eligible Hyatt stays from registration through February 14, 2027, earn 1.5 Aeroplan points per eligible dollar while continuing to earn Hyatt points as usual: 5 base points per dollar at regular hotels and 2.5 points per dollar at Hyatt Studios.
- You must link your Aeroplan and World of Hyatt accounts first. Registration confirmation can take up to 48 hours.
Under the July base rules, you had to choose one or the other: take 500 Aeroplan points per stay and give up Hyatt points. During this promotion, you get both, which is a true double dip.
Here is a simple example: an $800, three-night stay earns 4,000 Hyatt base points plus 1,200 Aeroplan points. At an estimated value of about 2 cents per Aeroplan point, that is roughly C$24 in extra value at no additional cost.
2. Aeroplan Elite Status Challenge: Hyatt elites can earn Aeroplan status in 90 days
- Eligible members: World of Hyatt Explorist and Globalist members. You must hold the status when registering and have a linked Aeroplan account. Air Canada’s official page says members below Explorist or Globalist are not eligible.
- You can join once per calendar year. Within 90 consecutive days of registration confirmation, earn enough SQC (Status Qualifying Credits) through eligible Air Canada activity. Registration processing can take up to 48 hours.
- SQC earning: Economy Flex and higher earn 4 SQC per dollar, Economy Standard earns 2 SQC per dollar, and Air Canada Vacations packages earn 1 SQC per dollar. Basic Economy and award tickets do not earn SQC.
- Thresholds:
- Explorist → Aeroplan 25K: 8,000 SQC
- Globalist → Aeroplan 25K: 8,000 SQC; 35K: 12,000 SQC; 50K: 17,000 SQC; 75K: 25,000 SQC
- The status earned through the challenge is valid until January 31 of the second calendar year after the year you register. For example, a 2026 registration is valid through January 31, 2028.
The reverse challenge (Aeroplan Elite → Hyatt) was already available when the July partnership launched: stay 4, 10, or 20 nights within 90 days to earn Discoverist, Explorist, or Globalist. This completes the other half of the partnership and connects the two programs in both directions.
Notes
- Both promotions require you to link the two accounts first. Dual earning also requires manual registration on the Hyatt offer page; miss the November 11 deadline and you cannot participate.
- The exact definition of an eligible stay and the SQC earning rules are governed by the official terms.
