Benefits & insurance

  • Annual TD Travel Credit

Once each calendar year you can receive a $100 TD Travel Credit. It requires a first eligible travel purchase of $500 or more completed through Expedia For TD and posted to the account: a hotel, motel, lodging, or vacation-rental booking, or a vacation package that includes lodging and transportation. The account must stay open and in good standing.

  • Visa Airport Companion Program

The primary cardmember must enrol in the Visa Airport Companion App or on the website. Each membership year, the primary cardmember and travelling guests share 4 complimentary lounge visits. Extra visits are currently $32 USD per person per visit; TD says the price can change. The network covers more than 1,200 lounges worldwide.

  • TD Rewards Birthday Bonus

On the primary cardmember’s birthday, they can receive 10% of the TD Rewards Points earned in the previous 12 months, up to 10,000 points a year. Welcome, promotional, and other-TD-card points, and point adjustments, do not count. The account must stay open and in good standing.

  • Annual Fee Rebate

TD’s website says pairing the card with a TD All-Inclusive Banking Plan can rebate this card’s annual fee each year. The credit-card product page does not list the banking plan’s specific eligibility or rebate mechanics; follow that plan’s official terms.

  • Earn more at Starbucks

After you link an eligible TD card to Starbucks, you can earn 50% more TD Rewards Points plus extra Starbucks Stars. TD says additional conditions apply.

  • Amazon Shop with Points

You can redeem TD Rewards Points against purchases on Amazon.ca through Amazon Shop with Points. The TD credit-card product page does not publish a fixed redemption value.

  • Uber One

Eligible TD cardmembers can receive a 6-month Uber One free trial, then 20% off. TD says additional conditions apply.

  • TD Offers

Eligible cards can receive offers from TD and merchants based on the cardmember’s selections. TD does not promise a fixed offer, amount, or frequency.

  • Emergency Travel Assistance Services

This is not insurance. TD’s 24-hour multilingual service can provide medical referrals, coordination of medical situations, emergency payment coordination, bail or legal assistance, emergency cash transfers, replacement documents or tickets, baggage help, and emergency translation. If service costs are charged to this card, the cardmember still has to repay them.

Travel insurance

  • Travel Medical Insurance

You do not have to charge the trip to this card. Eligible Canadian residents with valid provincial health insurance (or a valid Canadian Armed Forces health plan) and an account in good standing are covered up to $2,000,000 per person per covered trip for a sudden and unforeseen medical emergency outside their home province or territory. Age 64 and under: the first 21 consecutive days after leaving home; age 65 and over: the first 4 days only. The departure day counts as a full day. A pre-existing condition must have been stable for 90 days if you are 64 or under, or 180 days if you are 65 or over. This coverage pays after provincial health insurance and other insurance. Contact the administrator immediately. If a hospital admission is not reported within 48 hours (or as soon as reasonably possible), reimbursement drops to 80% of eligible expenses, to a maximum of $30,000. Tests, treatment, or surgery that require advance approval are usually not paid if they were not approved. Claim forms and proof must be submitted within one year of the accident or claim.

  • Trip Cancellation Insurance

The entire cost of the covered trip must be charged to this card and/or paid with TD Rewards Points. If you cancel before departure for a medical or non-medical reason listed in the certificate, coverage is up to $1,500 per insured person per trip and $5,000 combined for all insured persons on the same trip, for unused non-refundable travel arrangements and eligible points-cancellation fees. Unstable pre-existing conditions, foreseeable situations, unlisted cancellation reasons, and cancellation penalties added after the covered cause are excluded. Cancel with the travel supplier first, then contact the administrator immediately and no later than 24 hours after the covered cause, or coverage may be reduced. Claim forms and proof must be submitted within one year.

  • Trip Interruption Insurance

The entire cost of the covered trip must be charged to this card and/or paid with TD Rewards Points. If a listed cause in the certificate stops you from continuing the trip, coverage is up to $5,000 per insured person per trip and $25,000 combined for all insured persons on the same trip. It can include administrator-approved one-way economy return or ticket-change costs, transport to rejoin a tour, and some unused non-refundable land arrangements. Unstable pre-existing conditions, foreseeable situations, unlisted causes, and unused prepaid return transport are excluded. All transportation costs must be pre-approved, and you should contact the administrator immediately and no later than 24 hours. Claim forms and proof must be submitted within one year.

  • Common Carrier Travel Accident Insurance

Accidental injury while riding, boarding, alighting from, or travelling directly to or from an eligible common carrier (such as a plane, train, ferry, or bus) is covered up to $500,000 for death or specified accidental losses. The fare must be charged in full to this card, paid in full with TD Rewards Points, or, if points cover only part of it, the remaining fare must be charged in full to this card. The account must be in good standing and not more than 90 days past due. Operating or crewing the vehicle, intentional self-harm, and war or unrest listed in the certificate are excluded. Report the loss within 30 days and submit the claim form and proof within 90 days.

  • Delayed Baggage Insurance

If checked baggage with a common carrier is delayed more than 6 hours after arrival at the final destination, and the ticket was paid in full with this card and/or TD Rewards Points, essential clothing and toiletries bought before the bag is returned can be covered. Only eligible purchases in the first 96 hours after arrival count. Delayed and lost baggage together are capped at $1,000 per covered person per trip. Delays on return to your home province or territory, unchecked bags, and purchases after the bag is returned are excluded. Notify the administrator within 45 days of the delay and submit documents within 90 days.

  • Lost Baggage Insurance

If a common carrier never locates eligible checked baggage, and the ticket was paid in full with this card and/or TD Rewards Points, replacement of lost personal items not paid by the carrier or other insurance can be covered. It shares the $1,000 per covered person per trip cap with delayed baggage, and applies only while the bags are in the carrier’s custody. Notify the administrator within 45 days of the loss and submit documents within 90 days.

  • Flight/Trip Delay Insurance

At least 75% of the fare on an eligible common-carrier trip must be charged to this card and/or paid with TD Rewards Points. If severe weather, carrier equipment failure, or an unforeseen strike/labour action delays the trip at least 4 hours, reasonable meals, lodging, and extra ground transport are covered up to $500. Events already public or known before booking, existing or pre-announced labour disputes, government orders, specified service withdrawals, and bomb searches or threats are excluded. This coverage pays after carrier reimbursement and other insurance. Notify the administrator within 45 days of the delay and submit documents within 90 days.

  • Auto Rental Collision/Loss Damage Insurance

The full rental must be paid with this card; if TD Rewards Points cover part of it, the rest must be charged to this card, and you must decline the rental company’s CDW or equivalent on the contract. For a qualifying rental of no more than 48 consecutive days, theft, loss, or damage to the vehicle can be covered at actual cash value, plus eligible loss-of-use charges. Third-party liability, personal injury, property outside the vehicle, intoxicated driving, contract breaches, specified vehicle types, and vehicles with an MSRP over $65,000 CAD are excluded. This coverage does not replace liability insurance. Report damage or theft within 48 hours, submit the requested initial materials within 45 days of discovery, and complete all documents within 90 days.

  • Hotel/Motel Burglary Insurance

On an eligible hotel/motel stay in Canada or the United States, at least 75% of the room cost must be charged to this card and/or paid with TD Rewards Points. If most personal belongings are stolen from the room with evidence of forced entry, coverage is up to $2,500 per incident for all insured persons combined. This pays after the hotel and other insurance. Private homes rented through online platforms, cash, traveller’s cheques, securities, credit cards, tickets, and documents are excluded. Notify the police immediately, notify the insurer no later than 45 days after the loss, and submit written proof within one year.

Shopping insurance

  • Purchase Security

New personal-use items charged in full to this card can be repaired, replaced, or reimbursed up to the purchase price for direct physical loss or damage worldwide within 90 days of purchase. This pays after other available insurance. The lifetime aggregate across all TD credit cards is $60,000 per account holder. Used or business items, services, motor vehicles, normal wear, unexplained disappearance, and inherent product defects are excluded. For theft or malicious acts, report to police immediately. Notify the administrator within 45 days of the loss or damage and return the claim report and proof within 90 days.

  • Extended Warranty Protection

New personal-use items charged in full to this card that have a manufacturer warranty valid in Canada can have that warranty extended, after it ends, by the original warranty period or one year, whichever is shorter. Warranties of five years or less apply automatically; longer warranties must be registered with the administrator in the first year after purchase. The same $60,000 lifetime aggregate per account holder across all TD credit cards applies. Used or business items, motor vehicles, normal wear, misuse, improper installation or alteration, and consequential loss are excluded. You must report the claim before repair or replacement so the administrator can approve the process. Initial notice is required within 45 days of the loss or damage.

  • Mobile Device Insurance

When you buy an eligible new phone, smartphone, or tablet, at least 75% of the total price must be charged to this card; or you finance the device on a qualifying monthly plan and charge every monthly wireless bill to this card for the plan’s duration. Loss, theft, accidental damage, or mechanical failure is covered up to $1,000, after 2% depreciation per completed month and a $25 to $100 deductible based on device cost. Coverage starts on the later of 30 days after purchase or the first wireless bill charged to this card, and ends two years after purchase, when a qualifying monthly bill is missed, when the account is no longer in good standing, or when you lose eligibility. Across all accounts, there is a maximum of one claim in any 12 consecutive months and two claims in any 48 consecutive months. Most used/refurbished devices, business use, accessories, batteries, cosmetic damage, unexplained disappearance, and software or network issues are excluded. Repair or replacement must be approved by the insurer first. Contact the insurer within 30 days of the loss; for loss or theft also suspend wireless service within 48 hours, and for theft report to police within 7 days.

Take

This is one of TD’s three Canadian Visa Infinite flagships (the others are the TD Aeroplan Visa Infinite Card and the TD Cash Back Visa Infinite Card). The welcome offer is generous, and the travel insurance is solid. If you like earning TD Rewards, or you just want a strong first-year package, this card is hard to skip.
