Everyday Spending
1.5x: Eligible purchases in three selected Accelerator Categories. Earn 1.5 Scene+ points per $1 in Grocery, Restaurants, Gas, Entertainment, Furniture, Hotel-Motel, Drug Store, Recurring Bill Payments, Home Improvement, Public Transportation and Parking, E-Games, Fitness and Sports Clubs, or Foreign Currency Spend. The official website does not publish a spending cap for accelerated categories. Categories can be changed every 90 days. Mastercard determines the merchant category code; transactions at merchants whose primary business is outside the category, or at separately coded merchants within the same location, may not receive the accelerated rate.
1x: All other eligible purchases. Earn 1 Scene+ point per $1. Cash advances, balance transfers, cash-like transactions, interest, fees, returns, refunds, and other credits do not earn points. The account must be open and in Good Standing both when the transaction posts and when the statement is issued.
Benefits & Insurance
-
Annual Spend Reward
Spend $30,000 in Net Purchases during each 12-month period beginning on the account-opening date to receive 10,000 Scene+ points. The period then resets every 12 months. Primary and supplementary-card spending counts. The points usually post to the primary cardholder’s linked Scene+ account about three days after the threshold is reached, and the account must be in Good Standing when they are issued. The bank may reverse points if returns or refunds mean the requirement was not actually met.
-
Airport Lounges (Mastercard Travel Pass by DragonPass)
Register an eligible card with Mastercard Travel Pass / DragonPass. Each membership year includes four complimentary visits. Any cardholder on the account can use the visits for themselves or a guest, but a cardholder must be present; each person counts as one visit. After the four visits, each person pays US$32 per visit, subject to change. Participating lounges, opening hours, and restrictions are set by DragonPass, and Tangerine may change or cancel the benefit.

Travel Emergency Medical Insurance
The primary cardholder, spouse, and travelling dependent children must be Canadian permanent residents with provincial or territorial GHIP and under age 65. Each trip is covered for the first 15 consecutive days, and the trip does not need to be paid with this card. Reasonable and necessary treatment for a medical emergency is covered up to $5,000,000 per insured person after amounts payable by GHIP, group plans, or personal health insurance. Important exclusions include age 65 or older, pre-existing conditions, non-emergency treatment, travel for overseas work, pregnancy-related situations within nine weeks of the expected delivery date, alcohol or drug impairment, dangerous or professional sports, and certain regions subject to Canadian government travel advisories. Contact Assurant immediately in a medical emergency. Unapproved surgery or invasive treatment is generally not covered; other unapproved expenses are limited to 80%, up to $30,000. A medical emergency that begins during the coverage period may extend coverage by up to three days. Claims require documents such as travel dates, GHIP details, and medical bills.
-
Trip Cancellation Insurance
The cardholder, spouse, and dependent children travelling with them must pay at least 75% of the eligible trip’s Full Cost with this card and/or Scene+ points earned with this card. If the trip is cancelled before departure for a reason listed in the certificate—such as death, a sudden illness or accident, quarantine, specified government travel advisory, a natural disaster making the residence uninhabitable, or an airline supplier bankruptcy—non-refundable expenses are covered up to $2,000 per person and $5,000 per trip. Travel credits, vouchers, and gift cards are treated as compensation already received. Cancel with the travel supplier and notify the insurer within 48 hours after the covered reason occurs; late notice may reduce the benefit. Pre-existing conditions, a supplier’s own cancellation, unlisted reasons, and failure to present a passport or visa are excluded.
-
Trip Interruption Insurance
The same 75% Full Cost payment requirement applies. If a listed death, sudden illness or accident, quarantine, government travel advisory, natural disaster, or other covered reason prevents the trip from continuing or the traveller from returning as planned, coverage can include airline change fees, a one-way economy return or onward ticket, and unused non-refundable eligible expenses. The maximum is $2,000 per person and $25,000 per trip. Prepaid unused return transportation and the value of loyalty-program points themselves are excluded. Notify the insurer within 48 hours after the covered reason occurs or the benefit may be reduced.
-
Flight Delay Insurance
At least 75% of the trip’s Full Cost must be paid with this card and/or Scene+ points earned with this card. If the scheduled departure is delayed at least four hours and no alternative transportation is provided within four hours because of an airline strike, quarantine, civil disorder, hijacking, natural disaster, severe weather, mechanical failure, or involuntary denied boarding, necessary accommodation, meals, refreshments, and Essential Items may be reimbursed. The limit is $250 per 24 hours, for up to 48 hours and $500 per trip. Keep the airline’s confirmation of the actual departure time and the original receipts.
-
Baggage Delay or Loss Insurance
The same requirement applies for at least 75% of the trip cost to be paid with this card and/or Scene+ points earned with this card. If checked baggage has not arrived four hours after reaching the destination, Essential Items may be reimbursed up to $500 per trip. Baggage and personal items lost, stolen, or damaged while checked with an airline or Common Carrier are covered up to $1,000 per insured person per trip and $500 per item or set. Phones, computers, cash, tickets, business property, and jewellery or camera equipment not carried under the traveller’s control are excluded. Claim from the carrier and other insurance first and retain their written decisions.
-
Hotel/Motel Burglary Insurance
At least 75% of the confirmed nightly room-rate cost for the stay must be paid with this card and/or Scene+ points earned with this card. If personal property is stolen from a hotel or motel room showing evidence of forced entry between check-in and check-out, coverage applies after the hotel or other insurance, up to $1,000 per incident. Replacement cost applies only when the item is actually replaced; otherwise the benefit is its actual cash value at the time of loss. Cash, travellers’ cheques, securities, credit cards, tickets, and documents are excluded. Report the theft to police immediately and start the claim no later than 45 days after the loss.
-
Rental Car Collision / Loss Damage Insurance
This covers most private passenger cars, SUVs, and minivans seating up to eight for rentals of no more than 48 consecutive days. Initiate the reservation or rental with this card, present or pre-authorize the card at pickup, rent in the cardholder’s name, pay the Full Cost with this card and/or Scene+ points earned with this card, and decline the rental company’s CDW/LDW. Only one rental vehicle is covered at a time. Primary coverage can pay direct loss up to the vehicle’s actual cash value, plus documented loss of use, reasonable towing, and administration charges, but it does not provide third-party liability or personal-injury coverage. Vehicles over $85,000 actual cash value, trucks, motorcycles, campers, buses, exotic or limited-production vehicles, personal belongings in the vehicle, and rentals longer than 48 days are excluded. Unauthorized, illegal, or impaired driving, breach of the rental agreement, and normal wear and tear are also excluded. Notify the insurer immediately after an accident or theft; obtain a police report when the estimated loss exceeds $2,000.
Purchase Insurance
-
Purchase Assurance
New personal-use items whose Full Cost is paid with this card and/or Scene+ points earned with this card are covered from the purchase date, or later delivery date, for 90 days. Loss, theft, or accidental damage is covered as excess insurance after other protection. Once approved and repaired or replaced as required, reimbursement cannot exceed the original Full Cost. The combined lifetime liability for Purchase Assurance and Extended Warranty is $60,000. Abuse, normal wear, inherent product defects, mysterious disappearance, and theft from a vehicle without evidence of forced entry are excluded. Notify the insurer immediately after the incident and before repair or replacement; proof of loss submitted after 90 days may be denied.
-
Extended Warranty
The Full Cost must also be paid with this card and/or Scene+ points earned with this card. When the written manufacturer warranty is valid in Canada or the United States, coverage doubles the original repair period by up to one additional year. Items with a manufacturer warranty of five years or more must be registered with the insurer within one year of purchase. Once approved, repair or replacement must follow the insurer’s requirements and reimbursement cannot exceed the item’s original Full Cost. Used or refurbished items, vehicles, business use, dealer or assembler warranties, and obligations not covered by the original warranty are excluded. The combined lifetime liability with Purchase Assurance is $60,000. Claims require approval and documents such as receipts, the manufacturer warranty, and repair estimates.
-
Mobile Device Insurance
A new phone, smartphone, or tablet must have its Total Cost paid with this card. If purchased through a Plan, pay the required upfront amount with this card and charge every monthly wireless bill during the Plan to the card. Coverage begins on the later of 30 days after purchase and the first wireless bill and ends no later than two years after purchase; missing a monthly Plan payment ends coverage. Loss, theft, mechanical breakdown, and accidental damage are covered at the depreciated value less the deductible, up to $1,500. Depreciation is 2% of the Purchase Price for every completed month. The deductible is $25 for pre-tax cost of $0–$200, $50 for $200.01–$400, $75 for $400.01–$600, and $100 above $600. Claims are limited to one per 12 months and two per 48 months. Notify the insurer within 14 days, suspend wireless service within 48 hours of loss or theft, and report theft to police within seven days. Accessories, batteries, used or most refurbished devices, business-use equipment, shipping loss, mysterious disappearance, and cosmetic-only damage are excluded.
-
Event Ticket Protection Insurance
A ticket for the same event purchased from a Primary Ticket Outlet and paid in full with this card may be covered if it cannot be used because of a listed death, sudden medical emergency, venue cancellation without a full refund, disaster preventing attendance, transportation accident or delay, accidental ticket destruction or loss/theft, jury duty, or another covered reason. The non-refundable portion is covered up to $1,000 per incident; season tickets are calculated in proportion to the missed event. Amounts reimbursed by the venue, ticket seller, or other insurance are not paid again. Notify the insurer no later than 24 hours after the event date and keep the ticket, receipt, and proof of the covered reason.
