Questrade, a mainstream Canadian brokerage, keeps shipping new tools in the AI era. Last month it launched Questrade MCP (blog post 🔗); today it released Flows:

Setting a strategy to run on its own used to mean learning conditional orders—or writing code. Questrade’s Flows turns that into a chat: describe your trading rules in plain language, let the assistant build a flow, confirm and enable it, and it will submit orders or send alerts when conditions are met. To be clear, the assistant turns your ideas into rules; what you buy or sell, and how, is still your decision.

Everything gets a “Vibe” label these days, and Flows feels like trading’s version of “Vibe Coding.” Questrade calls this kind of feature Agentic Finance; a more vivid nickname is “Vibe Trading.” Examples: buy a stock after it drops by a set percentage on the day, or dollar-cost average on a fixed schedule.

Questrade highlights these Flows upgrades:

  • Mobile chat and voice input: create and edit Flows right in the app.
  • More trading sessions: set GTEM and overnight orders.
  • Event triggers: earnings, dividends, splits, and other calendar events.
  • Higher limits: up to $250,000 per order, and up to 20 order-capable Flows enabled at once.
  • Buying-power settings: use cross-currency buying power, or only the buying power in the security’s pricing currency.

Flows itself is free; trades still follow the usual fees. You can approve each order manually or let them submit automatically. Eligible stocks and ETFs support extended hours and overnight trading; options orders are limited to regular hours.

The key distinction: a triggered condition does not guarantee a fill, and it certainly does not guarantee a profit. The actual fill price can differ from the price at trigger, and a misconfigured rule can create duplicate or unexpected orders.

Takeaway

If you already have clear trading rules, Flows mainly cuts manual work and screen time. Turning an idea into an automated flow is getting easier, but whether the strategy itself is sound is still on you. Flows simplifies the process—it does not pick stocks or design the strategy for you.
