Benefits & Insurance
- Award Flight Pricing
When the primary cardmember books a United or United Express award flight with their own MileagePlus account, non-Premier members need at least 10% fewer miles than the base award price without an eligible card, and Premier members need at least 15% fewer. It does not apply to Money + Miles, cash tickets, or other redemptions. The account must be open and not in default. The benefit applies only to the primary cardmember’s MileagePlus account, is non-transferable, and can take up to about 5 weeks after card issuance to become active.
- $200 Annual United Travel Credit
After account opening and on each account anniversary, $200 in United TravelBank cash is automatically deposited into the MileagePlus account. The anniversary year runs from account opening through the first statement closing date on or after the anniversary, then through the following 12 billing cycles. Allow about 4 weeks after the anniversary for the credit to post. It can be used only for United- or United Express-operated flights or other bookings United allows, and the booking must be completed before expiration. It cannot be combined, transferred, extended, or converted back to miles. Unused balances expire 12 months from issue. The account must be open and not in default.
- 10,000-Mile Anniversary Award Flight Discount
Starting with the first cardmember anniversary, the primary cardmember receives one 10,000-mile discount each anniversary year. It applies to an eligible award ticket that includes at least one United or United Express segment and requires more than 10,000 miles. It is usually deposited into the MileagePlus account within 4 weeks after the anniversary. The discount cannot be combined, transferred, extended, or converted back to miles; it expires 12 months after issue; Money + Miles does not qualify; and taxes and fees remain the traveller’s responsibility.
- Earn 10,000-Mile Award Flight Discount
Complete $20,000 in net eligible purchases on this card in a calendar year to earn another 10,000-mile award-flight discount—one per year maximum. After you qualify, allow about 6–8 weeks for it to post to the MileagePlus account. Refunds reduce progress. Balance transfers, cash advances, cash-like transactions, gambling, cheques, interest, fraudulent transactions, and fees do not count. Usage rules, the 12-month validity period, and non-transferability match the anniversary discount.
- Free First and Second Checked Bags
The primary cardmember and one companion on the same reservation each receive free first and second standard checked bags. Authorized users qualify only when travelling on the same reservation as the primary cardmember. The primary cardmember must buy the ticket from United with this card and enter their MileagePlus number on the reservation; flights completed within 90 days of account opening waive the card-payment requirement. Coverage is limited to United- or United Express-operated flights and excludes codeshares. Oversized, overweight, and extra-bag fees may still apply. The benefit usually takes about 2 weeks after account opening to become active.
- Global Economy Plus Seat Upgrades
After $40,000 in eligible purchases on this card in a calendar year, the primary cardmember receives two global upgrades from economy to Economy Plus, usually posted 6–8 weeks after qualifying. You must buy the ticket with this card and enter the MileagePlus number on the reservation. Upgrades are for the primary cardmember only, are non-transferable, and must be used within 12 months of issue on United or United Express flights with available seats. Refunds, balance transfers, cash advances, and fees do not count toward the spend threshold.
- Priority Boarding
The primary cardmember and companions on the same reservation can board before general boarding on United or United Express flights. Authorized users qualify only when travelling on the same reservation as the primary cardmember. The primary cardmember must enter their MileagePlus number on the reservation. Codeshare flights do not qualify. Priority boarding usually appears on eligible reservations about 2 weeks after account opening.
- Global Entry, TSA PreCheck or NEXUS Application Fee Statement Credit
When the primary cardmember or an authorized user pays a first-time Global Entry, TSA PreCheck, or NEXUS application fee with this card, you can receive one statement credit of up to $120 every four years. Payment must go directly to the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, an eligible partner, or an authorized enrollment provider listed on the TSA website. Third-party payments such as travel agencies and application-assistance services do not qualify. Credits usually appear within 1–2 billing cycles. The account must be open and not in default.
- 25% Back on United Inflight and Club Premium Drink Purchases
Pay with this card for food, beverages, Wi‑Fi, and Wi‑Fi subscriptions on United or United Express flights, plus United Club premium drinks, and receive a 25% statement credit. Authorized-user purchases on the same account also qualify. Inflight credits usually post within 24 hours after the transaction posts. The account must be open and not in default.
- 1,000 Card Bonus Premier Qualifying Points
Starting in the calendar year after account opening, the primary cardmember receives 1,000 Card Bonus PQP each year, usually deposited into the MileagePlus account 6–8 weeks after February 1. This bonus does not count toward the 18,000 annual PQP cap from card spend. The account must be open and not in default both on December 31 of the prior year and when the bonus is issued. If the account is closed or product-changed, United may cancel or reclaim that qualification year’s bonus.
- Earn Premier Qualifying Points
Eligible net purchases by the primary cardmember and authorized users earn 1 PQP for every $20 spent, up to 18,000 PQP per calendar year, and can count toward Premier 1K and lower status. Refunds, balance transfers, cash advances, cash-like transactions, gambling, cheques, interest, fraudulent transactions, and fees do not count. Allow about 6–8 weeks after qualifying purchases for PQP to post. Accrual rules may change with the MileagePlus program year.
- Renowned Hotels and Resorts benefits
When you book an eligible Renowned Hotels and Resorts for United Cardmembers hotel through Chase Travel, you can receive a $100 property credit, complimentary breakfast for two, free Wi-Fi, a room upgrade, early check-in, and late checkout. Benefits are calculated per room for double occupancy, cannot be redeemed for cash, and may be limited by availability at check-in.
- $150 Renowned Hotels and Resorts Statement Credit
Book directly through Renowned Hotels and Resorts for United Cardmembers and choose “Pay Now” to prepay the hotel, and you can receive up to $150 in statement credits each account anniversary year. The anniversary year runs from account opening through the first statement closing date on or after the anniversary, then through the following 12 billing cycles. Credits usually post in 6–8 weeks. Delayed hotel posting can push a credit into the next anniversary year. The account must be open and not in default.
- $100 Rideshare Statement Credit
After annual enrolment, each calendar year you can receive up to $8 per month from January through November and up to $12 in December in rideshare statement credits, for a yearly maximum of $100. The benefit starts the day after enrolment and runs through year-end. Transactions count by the month they post. Credits usually appear in 6–8 weeks. The account must be open and not in default.
- Up to $80 Avis or Budget Travel Credit
In each account anniversary year, the first two eligible Avis or Budget rentals can each earn $40 in United TravelBank, for a combined maximum of $80. Book directly through cars.united.com, pay with this card, rent for at least two days, pick up at a participating location, enter the primary cardmember’s MileagePlus number on the reservation, and use the designated Avis AWD or Budget BCD discount code. After each qualifying rental is returned, allow about 6–8 weeks for the TravelBank credit to post to the MileagePlus account.
- Instacart Monthly Credits
After the primary cardmember activates an eligible Chase Instacart+ membership, the Instacart account receives one $10 credit and one $5 credit each month, up to $180 per year. The current benefit window runs through December 31, 2027. Each credit applies to a single Instacart order of at least $10 from one retailer, paid with this card. Credits expire at month-end and do not roll over. Tax, service fees, delivery fees, tips, and similar charges do not count. Uber Eats restaurant orders do not qualify. The account must be open and not in default.
- $150 JSX Statement Credit
In each account anniversary year, buy flights directly from JSX with this card and automatically receive up to $150 in statement credits. Transactions count toward the anniversary year in which they post. Credits usually appear in 6–8 weeks. The account must be open and not in default.
- Premier Upgrades on Award Tickets
When a MileagePlus Premier primary cardmember travels on an award ticket, that cardmember and one companion on the same reservation may use Complimentary Premier Upgrades on United or United Express flights when available. Authorized users qualify only when travelling on the same reservation as the primary cardmember. The benefit is subject to United’s eligible-flight and upgrade-priority rules.
- Complimentary Instacart+ Membership
From March 23, 2025 through December 31, 2027, the primary cardmember can activate with this card for three months of complimentary Instacart+. Unless cancelled, membership then renews automatically at 50% off the then-current annual fee through December 31, 2027. Activation requires a U.S. address and ongoing payment with this card. Memberships bought through third parties do not qualify. The benefit is non-transferable. Changing cards, closing the account, or going into default can end or change the benefit.
- United Card Events from Chase
Cardmembers get access to purchase selected United Card Events experiences, such as dining, wine, sports, and family events. Event details, eligibility, pricing, and availability are set on the event pages.
- United MileagePlus Exclusive Events
Through MileagePlus Exclusives, cardmembers can redeem miles for selected experiences such as dining, sports, shows, and behind-the-scenes access at United facilities. Required miles, availability, and event rules follow United’s then-current pages.
- Visa Signature Concierge Service
24-hour Visa Signature Concierge help is available for requests such as sports or entertainment tickets, restaurant reservations, and gift arrangements. The cardmember pays for any goods or services purchased through the service.
- Roadside Assistance
This is a service, not insurance. In the United States and Canada, no pre-enrolment is required. Coverage is up to $50 per service and up to four services per year, including towing, tire changes, jump starts, EV towing to the nearest charging station, lockout service, up to two gallons of emergency fuel, and standard winching within 100 feet of a paved road. The same type of service is limited to once every seven days. Amounts above the limit are the cardmember’s responsibility.
- Travel and Emergency Assistance
This is an assistance and referral service, not insurance. It can help covered travellers away from home with medical, legal, emergency transport arrangements, ticketing, baggage, translation, prescriptions, and pre-trip destination information. Actual medical, legal, transport, and other service costs remain the traveller’s responsibility. Service may be unavailable in locations under a U.S. State Department travel warning, OFAC sanctions, or with inadequate infrastructure.
Travel-related insurance
- Trip Cancellation and Interruption Insurance
When all or part of the trip is paid with this card and/or redeemable rewards, covered cancellations or interruptions can reimburse prepaid, non-refundable eligible travel expenses up to $1,500 per covered traveller and $6,000 total per trip, not to exceed the amount actually paid. Covered trips may last up to 60 days. Covered reasons include defined illness, accident, severe weather, and similar events. Pre-existing conditions within 60 days before booking, simply changing plans, and border closures caused by an epidemic or pandemic are among the exclusions. File a claim within 20 days of the incident and submit documents within 90 days.
- Trip Delay Reimbursement
After paying all or part of a common-carrier fare with this card and/or redeemable rewards, delays of more than 12 hours or requiring an overnight stay caused by equipment failure, severe weather, strike, or hijacking can reimburse reasonable extra expenses such as meals, lodging, toiletries, and medication. Coverage is up to $500 per covered traveller per trip and is secondary. File a claim within 60 days of the delay and submit required documents within 100 days.
- Baggage Delay Insurance
After paying all or part of a common-carrier fare with this card and/or redeemable rewards, checked baggage delayed or misdirected by the carrier for more than 6 hours can reimburse necessary personal items up to $100 per day for up to three days. Coverage is secondary. Report the delay to the carrier first. Hearing aids, jewellery and watches, cameras and other electronics, business samples, and recreational equipment are among the exclusions. File a claim within 20 days of the delay and submit required documents within 90 days.
- Lost Luggage Reimbursement
After paying all or part of a common-carrier fare with this card and/or redeemable rewards, checked bags, carry-ons, or personal items in them that are lost, damaged, or stolen while in the carrier’s care or during travel can cover the gap between actual cash value (replacement cost less depreciation) and the carrier’s reimbursement. Coverage is up to $3,000 per traveller per trip, with combined sublimits of $500 for jewellery and watches and $500 for cameras and other electronics. Items left behind on the carrier, cash, tickets, documents, and furs are not covered. Report the loss to the carrier first, then file a claim within 20 days and submit documents within 90 days.
- Travel Accident Insurance
After paying all or part of a common-carrier fare with this card and/or rewards, a covered traveller who dies or loses a limb, sight, speech, or hearing in an accident during the trip may receive up to $100,000 under 24-hour Travel Accident coverage and up to $500,000 under Common Carrier Travel Accident coverage. The 24-hour coverage usually applies to trips of up to 30 days. Illness, pregnancy, illegal acts, professional sports, and war are among the material exclusions. File a claim within 20 days of the accident or loss and submit documents within 90 days.
- Auto Rental Coverage
Pay the entire rental with this card and/or redeemable rewards and decline the rental company’s CDW/LDW. Worldwide collision, theft, verified loss-of-use, administrative fees, and reasonable towing are covered up to $60,000. Coverage is generally primary; for New York residents renting in the United States with their own auto insurance, it is excess. Rentals may not exceed 31 consecutive days. Bodily injury, third-party liability, personal property, vehicles with a suggested retail price above $125,000 or certain specialty vehicles, shared vehicles, and rentals longer than 31 days are not covered. File a claim within 100 days of the incident and submit documents within 365 days.
Shopping-related insurance
- Purchase Protection
After paying all or part of an eligible item with this card and/or redeemable rewards, coverage applies if the item is stolen, damaged, or involuntarily accidentally parted with within 120 days of purchase (90 days in New York). Limits are $10,000 per item and $50,000 per calendar year aggregate, based on the lowest of repair cost, like-kind replacement cost, the amount charged or redeemed, and the coverage caps. Coverage is secondary, but deductibles under other insurance can be covered. Vehicles, business goods, unexplained loss, items in a common carrier’s care, consumables, and used goods are among the exclusions. File a claim within 90 days of the loss and submit documents within 120 days.
- Extended Warranty Protection
After paying all or part of an item with this card and/or redeemable rewards, and when a valid U.S. original manufacturer’s repair warranty applies, the original warranty—or that warranty stacked with a store warranty/consumer service contract—of three years or less can be extended by one additional year, for a maximum of four years of total coverage from the purchase date. Limits are $10,000 per item and $50,000 per year, based on the lowest of repair, like-kind replacement, the amount paid, and the caps. Only failures covered by the original manufacturer’s warranty are covered. Vehicles, business use, rentals, software, medical devices, and used goods are not covered. File a claim within 90 days after the product fails and submit documents within 120 days.
