Everyday earning
3x: Eligible purchases where Air Canada is the merchant (including Air Canada Vacations packages bought directly from Air Canada) earn 3 Aeroplan points per CAD 1. Air Canada tickets bought through another website, a travel agent (including American Express Travel Services), or another vacation-package merchant, plus Air Canada gift cards, Maple Leaf Club memberships, or hotel/car-rental bookings with another merchant on aircanada.com, are not in this category.
2x: Eligible purchases at Amex merchants whose primary business is hotel/lodging or car rental earn 2 Aeroplan points per CAD 1. Direct bookings with a hotel or car-rental company charged to this Card, and bookings through American Express Travel Services, qualify. Bookings through Air Canada, Air Canada Vacations, other travel agencies, tour operators or online travel sites do not.
1x: Other eligible business purchases earn 1 Aeroplan point per CAD 1. A merchant code not recognized in the categories above, a payment through a third-party payment account/service or mobile card reader, or an online retailer selling other merchants’ goods all earn 1x.
Interest, annual and other fees, cash-equivalent transactions, refunds and credits do not earn points. Points go to the Basic Cardmember.
Benefits and insurance
- Annual Worldwide Companion Pass
After the Basic Cardmember charges more than CAD 25,000 in net purchases in the 12 months before the anniversary, a companion pass is deposited into their Aeroplan account about 8–10 weeks after the anniversary. It is valid for 12 months from issue and must be used on a new round-trip ticket booked directly with Air Canada, on the same itinerary and at the same time as the Basic Cardmember. The companion pays a fixed base fare by destination; taxes, surcharges and other fees still apply. Spend resets after the anniversary. The account must remain open and in good standing.
- Free first checked bag and priority airport services
The Basic Cardmember or an eligible Supplementary Cardmember, plus up to eight companions on the same booking (nine people in total), can each check a first bag of no more than 23 kg / 50 lb at no extra charge when checking in for a flight operated by Air Canada, Air Canada Rouge or Air Canada Express, and receive priority check-in where offered, Zone 2 priority boarding and priority baggage handling. You must check in with Air Canada. Gate-checked bags, check-in with another airline, or a first bag that is already free because of the fare or membership cannot be stacked or refunded after the fact.
- Maple Leaf Lounge™ and Air Canada Café
Basic and eligible Supplementary Cardmembers travelling the same day on Air Canada, Air Canada Rouge, Air Canada Express or Star Alliance can use Air Canada Café and Maple Leaf Lounge locations in Canada and the United States (including eligible lounges in international terminals in those two countries). Each Cardmember can bring one companion at no extra charge. Maple Leaf Lounges outside Canada and the United States, Air Canada Signature Suites, and lounges operated by third parties or Star Alliance partners are not included.
- Status Qualification Boost
The Basic Cardmember earns 1,000 SQC for every CAD 5,000 in eligible net purchases that post. Each Aeroplan member can receive at most 25,000 SQC per calendar year across all eligible Aeroplan credit Cards and Charge Cards. Supplementary Card spend counts toward the Basic Cardmember’s threshold, but Supplementary Cardmembers cannot earn SQC on their own.
- Pearson Priority Lanes and Valet Service
Eligible Canadian Basic/Supplementary Cardmembers and a reasonable number of companions on the same itinerary can request a one-time QR code at go.amex/yyz for Priority Lanes in designated departure areas at Toronto Pearson T1 and T3. When Basic and eligible Supplementary Cardmembers charge Pearson T1 Valet Service parking to this Card, the fee can be waived. The no-fee Supplementary Card does not receive that valet benefit. All benefits follow then-current terms and airport availability.
- Fourth night free and points expiry
When you redeem Aeroplan points for at least four consecutive nights at a participating hotel on one confirmation number, the points for one of those nights are waived. This is not a standalone free-night certificate. The booking must be completed with points only on the designated Aeroplan hotel site. You cannot combine separate orders, and cash or cash-plus-points bookings do not qualify. Current terms run through December 31, 2026 (Eastern Time) unless extended. Aeroplan points do not expire while the Basic Cardmember holds an American Express Aeroplan Card and the Aeroplan account is in good standing.
- Amex Experiences™ and Amex Offers
You may be able to use selected Front Of The Line® Amex Presale Tickets™, Amex Reserved Tickets™ and offers in the Amex App / Online Services. Events, enrolment, eligible Cards, payment methods and deadlines follow the terms then in force.

It can cover theft, loss, damage and eligible loss-of-use charges, with no deductible. Coverage applies to personal and business use but does not include third-party liability.
