This card earns Blue Rewards points. AIR MILES has been renamed Blue Rewards. BMO explicitly lists 1,500 Blue Points as $10 toward in-store purchases or an eGift Card. Travel and other redemption channels have different values, inventory, and rules, so do not treat that ratio as a fixed value for every redemption.

Everyday spending
10x: Spending at participating Blue Rewards Partners, including travel booked through Blue Rewards Travel (powered by Expedia). Combined net partner spend of up to $1,000 per statement cycle earns 10x; after that, only the 1x base rate applies. BMO can change the partner list at any time.
2x: Spending in Canada at grocery stores, gas stations, EV charging, wholesale clubs, and liquor merchants that Mastercard codes correctly. Each category earns 2x on up to $500 in net purchases per statement cycle; after that category cap, only 1x applies. BMO will not credit bonus points if the merchant category code does not match.
1x: Other eligible purchases. Cash advances, cash-like transactions, interest, fees, refunds, and account adjustments do not earn points. If you also show a Blue Rewards Member Card at a participating partner, the member-card points can accumulate separately from the card points.

Canadian residents who are 64 or under on the departure date, hold Canadian government health coverage for the entire trip, and have an account in good standing can receive up to $5,000,000 per person in emergency medical coverage for the first 15 consecutive days of each trip. The trip does not have to be charged to this Card. Watch the limits on pre-existing conditions and non-emergency treatment.
- Trip Cancellation / Trip Interruption / Trip Delay Insurance
Prepaid travel arrangements must be paid with this Card or Blue Rewards points. If points cover only part of the cost, taxes and the remaining balance must be charged to this Card. Cancellation for a covered reason before departure is up to $1,500 per person and $5,000 combined for the same trip. Interruption or delay after departure is up to $2,000 per person and $10,000 combined for the same trip, and can cover eligible ticket changes and unused non-refundable prepaid arrangements. You must notify the Operations Centre and the travel supplier within 48 hours of the incident, or a claim may be affected.
- Car Rental – Collision/Loss Damage Insurance
Coverage may apply when you rent from a commercial rental company for no more than 48 consecutive days, charge the full rental to this Card or Blue Rewards points, and decline the rental company’s CDW where the law allows. The vehicle’s suggested retail price can be no more than $65,000. Coverage can include vehicle damage or theft, the rental company’s reasonable loss-of-use charges, and towing. It does not provide third-party liability, property-damage, or personal-injury coverage.
- Common-carrier accident, flight delay, and baggage insurance
The eligible common-carrier ticket must be paid with this Card or Blue Rewards points. Common-carrier accident coverage is up to $500,000 per person, and $1,500,000 combined for all insured people in the same accident. When a scheduled commercial flight’s arrival or departure is delayed more than four hours, extra accommodation and transportation expenses can be reimbursed up to $500 combined for all insured people per trip; prepaid costs are excluded. If checked baggage is delayed more than six hours on the outbound trip, you can buy essentials within 36 hours of arrival, up to $500 per person and $1,000 combined per trip. Lost, stolen, or damaged baggage has the same $500 per person and $1,000 combined per-trip limits, with a $500 per-item cap. Return-trip baggage delay is not covered.
- Hotel Burglary Insurance
The accommodation cost must be paid with this Card or Blue Rewards points. Personal property lost or damaged because of a burglary at the travel accommodation while you are registered as a guest can be reimbursed at repair or replacement value, up to $1,000 combined for all insured people in the same incident. Contact the Operations Centre immediately and keep the police report, hotel burglary report, statements, and receipts.
Purchase insurance
- Purchase Security Insurance
Eligible personal items or gifts paid in full with this Card or Blue Rewards points are covered worldwide for theft or damage for 90 days from the purchase date. The insurer may repair, replace, or reimburse the purchase price. Purchase security and extended warranty share a lifetime maximum of $60,000 per account, and this is supplementary coverage after other available insurance, compensation, or warranties. Cash, tickets, animals, consumables/perishables, undelivered online purchases, jewellery in unattended baggage, and items left behind are not covered. Notify the Operations Centre immediately after a loss or incident.
- Extended Warranty Insurance
Eligible goods paid in full with this Card or Blue Rewards points, and with an original manufacturer’s warranty valid in Canada, can have that warranty doubled, up to one extra year. Payment is the lower of repair or replacement cost. If the original warranty is longer than five years, you must register with the Operations Centre within one year of purchase. Lifetime-warranty goods are not covered. Keep the proof of purchase and original warranty documents.
