Everyday spending
10x: Travel booked through Blue Rewards Travel (powered by Expedia), or spending at participating Blue Rewards Partners, earns 10 Blue Points per $1. That return is 1 base point plus 9 bonus points. Combined eligible net partner spend of up to $15,000 per calendar year earns the extra 9 points; after the cap, only the 1x base rate applies. BMO can change the partner list at any time.
2x: Spending in Canada that Mastercard codes correctly as a gas station (MCC 5541 or 5542) or EV charging (MCC 5552) earns 2 Blue Points per $1. Combined eligible net spend in these categories of up to $1,000 per statement cycle earns the extra 1 point; after the cap, only 1x applies. If a gas or charging merchant is also a Blue Rewards Partner, the 10x partner rules apply instead.
1x: Other eligible purchases earn 1 Blue Point per $1. Cash advances, cash-like transactions, interest, fees, refunds, and account adjustments do not earn points. Points are rounded down and may post within 90 days after the applicable statement cycle ends. The primary cardholder or business owner must also complete Blue Rewards enrolment, and the account must be in good standing, before points can accumulate.
At participating partners, showing a physical or digital Blue Rewards Member Card can earn member-program points separately from the credit-card points. The member-program earn rate is set by the partner merchant.
Benefits and insurance
- Employee cards and account management
You can add up to 22 employee cards at $50 each per year. BMO’s online and mobile banking tools can manage employee cards, set card limits, lock or unlock cards immediately, and show transactions and account details. Employee-card spending can help the business earn Blue Points, but employee cardholders do not get independent rewards-program rights from that spending.
- BMO Business Credit Card Waiver of Liability Program
If an employee card is misused, the program can cover up to $50,000 per cardholder. Limits, exclusions, and claim conditions follow the Program Description that comes with the new card. This is not the same as the card’s purchase insurance.
- Zero Liability
BMO says Zero Liability can apply to most unauthorized in-person, phone, or online transactions. The business still needs to protect the cards, PINs, and account details, and call BMO immediately after a loss, theft, or suspected unauthorized use. The business account agreement sets the conditions and liability rules.
- Car rental discounts (Avis / Budget)
Book Avis or Budget at an eligible location with this Card and the base rate is at least 10% off. Prepaid bookings can be up to 30% off at Avis and up to 35% off at Budget. The discount applies only to the base Time and Mileage rate. It does not cover taxes, airport and surcharge fees, fuel, extra drivers, or loss/personal-accident coverage, and it is still subject to location, vehicle, availability, and rental-company terms. This card has no officially listed rental collision-damage insurance. Do not treat the discount as rental insurance.
- Mastercard Easy Savings™ and partner offers
Using this Card at eligible merchants can automatically add a 1%–25% statement rebate through Mastercard Easy Savings. BMO’s page also lists partner offers such as H&R Block, Cirque du Soleil, and Instacart+. Merchant eligibility, enrolment, timing, frequency, and location limits differ by offer and can change.
- BMO PaySmart™ instalment plan
Eligible purchases can be converted into a monthly payment plan. BMO shows the applicable cost, term, and other terms when you set up the plan. This is not free insurance or a fixed perk that comes automatically with the card.
Purchase insurance

- Purchase Protection
The full purchase price must be charged to this Card account while it is in good standing. Business-use items and gifts can both qualify. Items redeemed with Mastercard reward points may also be covered. Most eligible goods are covered worldwide for theft or damage for 90 days from the purchase date. The insurer may repair, replace, or reimburse the purchase price. Purchase protection and extended warranty share a lifetime maximum of $60,000 per account, and this is supplementary coverage after other insurance, compensation, or warranties. Cash and tickets, animals, consumables/perishables, undelivered online purchases, used or refurbished goods, motor vehicles, unexplained disappearance, and items left behind are not covered. Contact the Operations Centre immediately after you learn of a loss, then give written notice within 30 days and proof of claim within 90 days. If you cannot meet those timelines, submit the materials as soon as you can, and no later than one year after the incident.
- Extended Warranty
The full purchase price must also be charged to this Card account, and the original manufacturer’s warranty must be valid in Canada. Coverage can extend that warranty by up to one extra year and pays the lower of repair or replacement cost under the original warranty terms. If the original warranty is longer than five years, you must register with the Operations Centre within one year of purchase. Used or refurbished goods, vehicles, and lifetime-warranty items are not covered. This benefit shares the $60,000 lifetime account maximum with purchase protection and is supplementary to other coverage. The claim timelines are the same: contact immediately, written notice within 30 days, proof within 90 days, and no later than one year after the incident if you cannot file on time.
