Philippine Airlines (PAL) has launched a Mabuhay Miles status match with StatusMatch (official page 🔗). This is not a traditional free challenge. It is a paid, reviewed public match: if you hold qualifying elite status with another airline, you can apply to match into PAL Elite or Premier Elite.

Dates:

  • Philippine residents paying between September 14 and October 31, 2026 must use a PNB co-branded debit or credit card. From November 1 they can pay with any debit or credit card.
  • Applicants in other eligible markets can pay with any debit or credit card from September 14. U.S. residents are not currently eligible.

How it works:

You need a free Mabuhay Miles account first, then submit proof of your other-airline status and pay the application fee. The prices are:

If you are approved, the new status usually appears in your account within five business days. There is no published end date, but PAL and StatusMatch can change or close the offer at any time.

Which statuses can you match?

The list of participating airlines is broad. It includes Air China, China Eastern, China Southern, EVA Air, Korean Air, Singapore Airlines, ANA, Air Canada, Delta, Air France-KLM, Lufthansa, Turkish Airlines, Emirates, United, and others. Which of your tiers maps to Elite versus Premier Elite is set by the application-page chart. For example:

  • Air China, China Eastern, and China Southern Silver usually match to Elite; Gold and higher can apply for Premier Elite.
  • Air Canada 25K and 35K map to Elite; 50K, 75K, and Super Elite map to Premier Elite.
  • ANA Bronze can apply for Elite; Platinum, Diamond, and Super Flyers Club map to Premier Elite.
  • United Silver maps to Elite; Gold, Platinum, 1K, and Global Services map to Premier Elite.
  • EVA Air Silver can apply for Elite; Gold and Diamond can apply for Premier Elite.

Even if your current status maps to Premier Elite, you can still choose the lower Elite tier.

What benefits do you get?

Elite mainly covers priority waitlisting, priority check-in, 10 kg extra baggage, lounge access, priority boarding, and priority baggage. More detail on the official Elite page 🔗

Matched status is valid through February 2028. The two upgrade certificates that usually come with Premier Elite are not included in this status match.

The biggest draw — and the biggest unknown

Philippine Airlines is already moving toward joining oneworld, which is why this offer is getting attention. The application page is explicit, though: until PAL completes its formal oneworld integration, matched status does not include oneworld benefits.

In other words, what you can buy today is PAL’s own elite treatment. Whether oneworld benefits later stack on top, how they map, and when they take effect still depend on the post-join arrangements. If your real goal is other oneworld airline lounges or cross-airline priority, treat that part with extra caution.

Is it worth applying?

If you fly Philippine Airlines often, or you think you can actually use the potential oneworld value in 2027–2028, US$199 to US$349 can look attractive. If you barely fly PAL and already have strong alliance status or lounge access, this is closer to a prepaid bet with a timing unknown.

Two limits still apply: the offer is only open to eligible members in certain markets, and U.S. residents are currently excluded. Philippine residents paying on or before October 31, 2026 must still use a Philippine National Bank co-branded debit or credit card.
