  • Collision Damage Waiver Benefits

Charge the full rental to this card, keep the rental to 31 consecutive days or less, and decline the rental company’s CDW/LDW where the law allows. Vehicles valued at $65,000 or more, trucks, RVs, off-road vehicles, motorcycles, antique/luxury cars, leased vehicles, and similar exclusions are not covered. The per-account, per-accident maximum is $300,000. Illness, over-limit blood alcohol, illegal or off-road use, and similar cases are excluded. Notice and proof timelines match the rental-vehicle cover.

  • Rental Vehicle Personal Effects Benefits

During an eligible rental, personal items of the cardholder and travelling family lost, stolen, or damaged in transit, in a hotel, or in another building are covered up to $1,000 per person per occurrence and $2,000 per account per rental. Cash, tickets, computers, phones, and unexplained loss are excluded. This is excess coverage after other valid insurance.

  • Common Carrier Accidental Death and Dismemberment Benefits

Charge all or part of the common-carrier fare to this card before departure. Accidental death or a listed disability for the cardholder, spouse, and eligible dependent children while travelling on a common carrier (including public transport to or from an airport, bus, train, or ship terminal) pays up to $1,000,000, with a $1,000,000 per-account, per-accident maximum.

  • Unexpected Return Home Benefits

Charge all or part of the common-carrier fare to this card before departure. If an immediate relative dies during the trip, it pays the lesser of the change fee or a one-way economy fare back to the province or territory of residence, up to $2,000 per insured person and $25,000 for all insured people on the same covered trip. You must contact the claims centre first so they can help arrange it. Other reimbursements, vouchers, or travel-insurance costs are not covered.

  • Delayed & Lost Baggage Insurance

Charge the full common-carrier ticket/fare to this card. If checked baggage is delayed more than 4 hours after you reach the final destination, it can reimburse necessary clothing and toiletries bought before the bags are returned and within 96 hours of arrival. If the common carrier does not recover the checked bags, it can cover the replacement cost of personal items not paid by the carrier or other insurance. Combined, both benefits are up to $1,000 per insured person per trip. Delayed bags on a return home, carry-on bags, cash, tickets, and ID are excluded. Notify within 45 days of the event and submit complete proof within 90 days.

  • Flight/Trip Delay Insurance

At least 75% of the common-carrier fare must be charged to this card and/or MBNA Rewards Points. If weather, equipment failure, or an unannounced strike delays you more than 4 hours, it can reimburse reasonable meals, lodging, and extra ground transport, up to $500 per insured person. This is excess coverage after carrier compensation and other insurance. Notify within 45 days of the delay and submit proof within 90 days.

  • Travel Medical Insurance

The primary cardholder must be under 65 on the departure date, a Canadian resident for the whole trip, covered by provincial/territorial government health insurance, and keep the account in Good Standing. An eligible spouse and dependent children can also be covered. For the first 21 consecutive days away from the province or territory of residence, sudden and unforeseen medical emergencies are covered up to $2,000,000 per insured person per trip. You must contact the claims centre within 48 hours of a hospital stay, or reimbursement may be limited to 80% of eligible costs, capped at $30,000. Unstable pre-existing conditions in the 90 days before departure, non-emergency treatment, late pregnancy, alcohol/drug abuse, high-risk sports, and similar cases are excluded. Contact the claims centre immediately in an emergency. Complete claim forms and documents are due no later than one year after the accident or claim.

  • Price Protection Service

This is a service, not insurance. For most new personal items bought in Canada and charged in full to this card, if you find the same brand, model, and features advertised at a lower Canadian-dollar retail price in Canada within 60 days, you can claim the pre-tax difference. The difference must be at least $10 per item, up to $500 per item and $1,000 per account per calendar year, and no more than 3 identical items in the same 60-day period. Computers, phones, vehicles, used/refurbished items, business use, services, foreign websites, grey-market goods, clearance items, and items the merchant already price-adjusted do not qualify. Keep the receipt, statement, and Canadian lower-price ad, and submit the request within 120 days of purchase.
