【October 6, 2026 update】 Amazon Prime Day is here. On October 6 and 7, the cash-back portals are paying a higher rate. Aeroplan eStore pays 10x miles. If you are not a base member, it is 12x miles. ⚠️ Not every Amazon category earns the higher rate:

Blue Rewards Shops is also paying a higher rate on Amazon: 20x or 25x. See the blog post 🔗.
When you shop online or apply for a credit card, the card’s own rewards are only part of the return. The other piece is going through a cash-back portal. These are the Canadian portals worth keeping:
(The order does not matter. Register for all of them. When you are about to shop or apply for a card, compare the three that fit and use whichever pays more.
When a credit-card application is involved, the blog also marks the best channel on that card’s own page.)

🌍🌍 Aeroplan eStore 🌍🌍
This is Air Canada’s own rebate portal. The rebate is miles, and they post to your Aeroplan account automatically.
From top to bottom, the portal shows:
- A search box (the one you will actually use; search for the store you want, and an empty result means the eStore does not rebate that merchant)
- Promotions with multiplied miles
- Promotions that redeem miles for merchandise (do not use these; Aeroplan miles are worth more elsewhere)
- Partner stores that pay a rebate (not a huge list, but it covers familiar names such as Apple and Best Buy, and the rate changes over time)
A worked example: buying a Mac and earning a pile of Aeroplan miles
During Black Friday 2022, I went from the Aeroplan eStore into the Apple Store and bought a MacBook. The cost was $1,499 plus tax, and I received:
- 🌟 a $210 Apple gift card
- 🌟 5x Aeroplan miles on Apple at the time, plus 2x for elite status, for 7x in total
- 🌟 a promotion between the eStore and Aeroplan cobrand cards that paid an extra 10x when the purchase went through the eStore on an Aeroplan card
So $1,499 plus tax bought a MacBook, a $210 Apple gift card, and 17x back (23,608 Aeroplan miles). That was a solid deal.
🌍🌍 Great Canadian Rebates 🌍🌍
An established, reliable cash-back site. The rebate is actual cash, not miles.
Some stores pay a high rate. Search for the merchant from the box on the home page.
The other feature is credit-card applications. Some cards pay a rebate when you apply through a GCR link.
There are three ways to cash out:
- Gift cards, which GCR pays at a slightly higher rate
- Direct deposit
- PayPal
🌍🌍 Rakuten.ca 🌍🌍
Another reliable portal, close to GCR: merchant cash back, plus cash back on some credit-card applications.
There are three payout methods.
【March 23, 2026 update】 Canadian Rakuten now pays cash back on in-store purchases as well. The list is down from 15 9 stores.
Before you pay, click the linked offer, find the store, and add the card you are about to use.

🌍🌍 FinlyWealth.com 🌍🌍
This site is mainly for extra cash back on new bank accounts and new credit cards. Readers who have tried it consider it reliable.
You can register with the blog’s referral link and support the site.
🌍🌍 creditcardgenius.ca 🌍🌍
Much like FinlyWealth, this site is mainly extra cash back on new bank accounts and new credit cards. One difference is the app. The web offer and the app offer are sometimes different. Scotia Momentum Visa Infinite, for example, paid a $200 cash bonus from the app and only $100 from the website. The blog marks the best application channel on each card’s own post.
