Welcome offer
【September 5, 2026 update】 $100 + $50:
- If the account opens between July 2, 2026 and November 1, 2026 (the application date does not matter), the first $2,000 in eligible purchases in the first three months after opening earns 5%. That 5% is the regular category rate plus a welcome-offer boost. Payments, cash advances (including balance transfers and cash-like transactions), interest, fees, and other charges do not count. After the promotional period, spending earns at the regular program rates.
- The regular cash-back portion can be redeemed anytime once the balance reaches $25. The welcome-offer boost becomes redeemable about 5 months after account opening, and the account must be open and in good standing at redemption.
- In the same opening window, eligible cash advances, balance transfers, and cash-like transactions get a 0.99% rate for 9 months from account opening. Each of those transactions during the promotional period has a 2% balance-transfer fee, minimum $5. After the period, any unpaid promotional balance uses the then-current cash-advance rate (currently 22.99%).
- Apply through the blog partner site and you can get an extra $50.

Current or former primary or supplementary cardholders of a Scotiabank personal credit card in the past 2 years, including anyone who switched to an existing Scotiabank personal card, are not eligible. The bank can revoke the offer if it decides you do not qualify.
Everyday spending
1%: grocery and supermarket (MCC 5411), drugstore (MCC 5912), gas station (MCC 5541, 5542), EV charging (MCC 5552), everyday transit such as bus, taxi, and rideshare (MCC 4111, 4112, 4121, 4131, 4789), food delivery and Scotiabank-selected delivery services that may change, and eligible recurring bills that a merchant posts automatically each month or on a regular schedule (typical examples include telecom, insurance, memberships, and subscriptions). Combined accelerated categories are capped at the first $15,000 a year, counted from the statement cycle of the account-opening month and reset every 12 months; spending above that earns 0.5%. Not every merchant offers recurring card payments. Scotiabank has announced that from October 22, 2026, rent payments (MCC 6513) and tax payments (MCC 9311) will no longer count as eligible recurring bills.
0.5%: other eligible purchases, and accelerated-category spend after the annual $15,000 cap. The website does not publish a further cap on this rate. Rewards are calculated on posted net purchases; credits such as returns reverse cash back at the original rate. Balance transfers, cash advances, cash-like transactions, interest, fees, and insurance premiums are not eligible purchases.
Benefits and insurance
- Cash Back redemption
Once the balance reaches $25, the primary borrower or coborrower can redeem anytime in the Scotia app or online banking, as a statement credit or a deposit to an eligible Scotiabank Canadian-dollar chequing or savings account in the same name as the card account. Supplementary cardholders cannot redeem. The balance does not expire while the account is open and in good standing. If you close the account in good standing, you can call to redeem within 90 days of the closing date; after that it is forfeited. If you close the account and it is not in good standing, the entire accumulated balance is forfeited. A redemption posted to the card account is not a payment; you still need to make the minimum payment to stay in good standing.
- Shell fuel benefit (Shell Go+ fuel benefit)
You need to link both this card and a Scene+ account to Shell Go+. At participating Shell locations in Canada, fuel of any grade paid with a linked eligible Scotiabank debit or credit card gets an instant 3¢/L discount, up to 1,000 litres per month per payment-card account. Eligible net gas-station purchases on this card (MCC 5541, 5542) also earn 1% cash back, which the website converts to about 1¢/L when fuel is at least $1.00/L, subject to the $15,000 annual accelerated-spend cap. Scene+ members earn 1 point per litre, plus 1 extra point per litre on V-Power gasoline or diesel when Scene+ is linked to Shell Go+. The website values the Scene+ portion at up to about 2¢/L, using an average of about $10 in fuel per 1,000 points. The 6¢/L maximum assumes Premium fuel, a price of at least $1.00/L, and both the card and Scene+ linked to Shell Go+. The actual amount varies with the fuel grade, the pump price, whether the accounts are linked, and how you redeem Scene+ points.
- Car rental savings (Avis and Budget car rental savings)
Pay with this card at participating Avis and Budget locations in Canada and the United States and you can save up to 25% off the base rate (time and mileage only). Taxes and extras such as the air-conditioning excise recovery fee, concession recovery fee, vehicle licence recovery fee, energy recovery fee, tire management fee, frequent-traveller fee, customer facility charge, and environmental fee recovery are not included. - Instalment plans (Scotia SelectPay)
You can convert an eligible purchase of $100 or more into an instalment plan. The website describes the plan rate as low and says there is no instalment-plan fee; the Scotia SelectPay terms govern.
