Article terms verified: October 13, 2026. Night counts are based on Chase’s official announcement and the Premier Select official card page. See the IHG website for the Milestone Rewards details.

When Chase revamped its IHG cards on October 1, it made a curious mistake: all four cards gained annual Elite Night Credits, but the application terms incorrectly said that members could receive only a stated maximum number of nights each year, regardless of how many IHG cards they held. In other words, the wording appeared to say that the credits could not be stacked. After points bloggers asked Chase to clarify, Chase acknowledged that the language was wrong and removed it over the past few days. I checked the application pages today, and the non-stacking wording is gone.

The bottom line: Elite Night Credits from multiple IHG co-branded cards can be stacked. Each card contributes its own credits, and they add up directly toward both elite status and IHG Milestone Rewards.

How many nights each card gives you every year

Card Annual fee Annual Elite Night Credits
Premier Select (new card) $350 20
Premier $150 15
Business $200 15
IHG One Rewards Credit Card $0 5

Spending can earn more too: each card gives you 2 additional nights for every $5,000 spent, and each card calculates this separately. Spending $3,000 on one card and $2,000 on another does not combine to reach $5,000. Premier Select also gives you 5 more nights after $15,000 in annual spending.

How to build a stack

  • Premier + Business = 30 nights from the start, immediately unlocking the 20- and 30-night Milestone Rewards.
  • Premier Select + Business = 35 nights from the start, leaving only 5 nights to reach the 40-night tier.
  • All three annual-fee cards = 50 nights from the start, unlocking the 20-, 30-, 40- and 50-night tiers at once.

The IHG One Rewards requirements for each membership tier are:

  • Club Member: you become a base member simply by joining; there is no night requirement.
  • Silver Elite: 10 nights.
  • Gold Elite: 20 nights or 40,000 points.
  • Platinum Elite: 40 nights or 60,000 points.
  • Diamond Elite: 70 nights or 120,000 points.

There is no official deadline for stacking itself. Premier Select’s application terms exclude people who already hold that card or received its welcome offer within the previous 24 months, but they do not exclude people who hold other personal IHG cards. In theory, that means you could still build the 50-night stack in 2027. The time-sensitive part is the welcome offer: Chase told media that the window for existing cardholders to apply for Premier Select and receive its welcome bonus lasts only until “early next year,” after which the terms may tighten. Premier and the no-fee card are mutually exclusive—you cannot apply for one while holding any personal IHG card and still qualify for the other—so the realistic order for building all three is Premier first, Premier Select second and Business third. Chase’s 5/24 rule also makes opening all three cards in a short period unrealistic, so anyone aiming for 50 nights should start sooner rather than later.

What are the nights worth? IHG Milestone Rewards

Elite Night Credits unlock one Milestone Rewards tier every 10 nights, starting at 20 nights.

  • 20 nights (choose 1): 5,000 Bonus Points, two Food & Beverage Rewards, or one Confirmable Suite Upgrade.
  • 30 nights (choose 1): 5,000 Bonus Points or two Food & Beverage Rewards.
  • 40 nights (choose 2): 10,000 Bonus Points, five Food & Beverage Rewards, one Confirmable Suite Upgrade (select it at most once), Annual Lounge Membership (select it at most once), or a Bonus Choice.
  • 50 nights (choose 1): 10,000 Bonus Points or five Food & Beverage Rewards.
  • 60 nights (choose 1): 10,000 Bonus Points or five Food & Beverage Rewards.
  • 70 nights (choose 2): 10,000 Bonus Points, five Food & Beverage Rewards, two Confirmable Suite Upgrades (select them at most once), Annual Lounge Membership (select it at most once), or a Bonus Choice.
  • 80 nights (choose 1): 10,000 Bonus Points or five Food & Beverage Rewards.
  • 90 nights (choose 1): 10,000 Bonus Points or five Food & Beverage Rewards.
  • 100 nights (choose 1): 10,000 Bonus Points or five Food & Beverage Rewards.

🤔 Put another way: starting with 35 nights is roughly like receiving a suite upgrade certificate for free; starting with 50 nights lets you take both a suite upgrade certificate and an Annual Lounge Membership without staying a single night.

Take a breath: stacking does not directly upgrade your status

Two reminders ⚠️:

  1. Premier Select and Business already come with Platinum Elite status, so stacking their credits does not push your status any higher. The real value is unlocking Milestone Rewards and cutting the number of hotel nights you still need to reach Diamond Elite from 70 to as few as 20–40.
  2. The 50-night combination requires three annual-fee cards ($350 + $150 + $200 = $700 in annual fees). Do not look only at the nights without considering the cost.

The short version

Chase created and then corrected its own IHG terms mistake: Elite Night Credits can be stacked. Starting with 35 nights can get you a suite upgrade certificate, while starting with 50 nights adds an Annual Lounge Membership—at the cost of several hundred dollars in annual fees and three Chase 5/24 slots. Whether it is worthwhile depends on how many nights you actually spend at IHG hotels each year.
