A lot of credit-card hobbyists hit the same problem after a new card is approved: how do you finish the welcome-offer spend in time? If everyday spend is not enough, you look for cheaper, more controllable, lower-risk ways to charge the card. The usual options include buying for friends, prepaying bills, and gift cards.

This article covers another approach: join a buying group, order specified goods through designated retailers, then get reimbursed plus a commission after the goods are delivered. The program here is run by the buying team under Print Xcalibur Inc. The company address is Unit 105, 111 Granton Dr, Richmond Hill. The warehouse is at 420 Passmore Ave, Scarborough.

What is a buying-group program?

In short, the buying team posts purchase requests in a platform or group chat. Shoppers buy the listed items from legitimate Canadian retailers, then drop them at the warehouse or ship them there. After the warehouse confirms receipt, the shopper submits the receipt and waits for review and reimbursement.

Common order channels include Amazon, Best Buy, Walmart, Costco, Canadian Tire, Canada Computers, London Drugs, and other Canadian retailers.

You do not have to hunt for products or decide what to buy. Each order includes a specific purchase link, product details, quantity, and a delivery deadline. You just order as instructed.

What does the full process look like?

0. Use the blog referral code for a $15 new-member bonus

Use my referral code GQWVY and complete your first order for an extra $15

1. Join the Discord and register a shopper account

Buying-group information is currently posted mainly on Discord: Discord invite 🔗

Then register in the purchasing system. Enter my referral code GQWVY for $15 on the first order: Registration link 🔗

2. Review purchase orders

Once you are in the Discord, you can see orders the team posts. Each order usually lists:

Product name, purchase link, eligible stores, price, quantity, shipping address, delivery deadline, commission or profit notes, and any extra bonus.

You do not need to find your own suppliers. Buy through the link and follow the order.

3. Place the order

You can order online or buy in store.

Online orders usually work two ways. First: ship to your home, then drop the goods at the warehouse yourself. Second: ship straight to the warehouse by entering the specified warehouse address at checkout.

If you ship to the warehouse, make sure the recipient details, product information, and tracking number are accurate so the warehouse can match the order.

4. Warehouse receiving and scan-in

Warehouse staff scan items into the system when they arrive. You can watch receiving in real time on the platform, including:

Scan time, tracking number, product name, quantity, and receiving status

This step matters, because it is how the system confirms the goods were received.

5. Submit the receipt

After you drop off the goods or they arrive at the warehouse, submit the purchase receipt on the platform. You can then see whether the file has been verified. If the receipt, product, quantity, and price check out, you wait for reimbursement.

If something is wrong, customer service will ask you to fix or add documents. You can also contact the team anytime about an order.

6. Wait for reimbursement

The current payout cycle is about 3 weeks after the goods arrive.

Payment is by direct deposit into the shopper’s bank account.

What kind of return can you expect?

Most buying-group items are reimbursed at the original price, so you are not usually asked to sell at a loss. The shopper mainly earns commission, credit-card rewards, and gift-card discounts. A typical shopper’s return is about 2%–4%, depending on the card, the order type, and the item.

Experienced shoppers can stack more methods and end up above 2%–4%, for example:

  • Using a high-cash-back card
  • Using a credit-card welcome offer
  • Using discounted gift cards
  • Catching retailer sales
  • Stacking points rewards
  • Buying high-demand items

Some items the company especially wants can also carry extra commission. During Black Friday, certain game-console orders once paid an extra $5 each.

Tax: what do you do with a T4A?

If a shopper’s commission for the year exceeds $500 CAD, the team issues a T4A. That is the commission portion, not the ordinary merchandise reimbursement. For example, you put $800 on a credit card for goods, then the company reimburses $800. That $800 is principal coming back. The extra $5 commission is the income.

Everyone’s tax situation is different. Keep order records, reimbursement records, receipts, bank statements, and the T4A, and sort them at tax time.

What risks should you watch?

This is a way to generate credit-card spend, but it still carries risk. Think through the points below before you join.

1. Capital tied up

You pay with a card first, then wait to be reimbursed. Even when the process is normal, that can take a few weeks.

If the order is large, make sure you can pay the credit-card bill on time. Do not take on high interest just to finish a welcome offer.

2. Cancellations and messy orders

Retailers may cancel, delay shipping, split shipments, or ask for extra verification. Watch the order status.

3. Receipts and product details have to match

When you submit a receipt, the product, quantity, price, and order number need to match the purchase request. Unclear or mismatched paperwork can slow the review.

4. Credit-card and retailer rules

Cards, retailers, and membership programs can treat resale, bulk buying, and commercial purchasing differently. You have to judge whether your own activity fits the terms.

5. Keep tax records

If commission crosses the threshold and you get a T4A, you need to handle it at tax time. Even without a T4A, keep a complete file.

6. The buying-group company disappearing

It is uncommon, but it has happened. If the company walks away, shoppers may never get reimbursed.

Bottom line & how I see it

If you play Canadian credit cards and need another way to finish welcome-offer spend, a buying group can be an extra option. The basic loop is: buy from Canadian retailers against an order → drop off or ship to the warehouse → warehouse scan-in → submit the receipt → review → direct-deposit reimbursement → keep the return.

Typical returns are about 2%–4%, and some orders pay extra. For people in the middle of a spend requirement, that can be attractive.

Understand the process, the cash tied up, the tax, and the order risk before you join. New shoppers should not jump into large orders. Start with a small one and test the full cycle.
