Everyday earning

2x: Eligible Porter purchases made directly with Porter Airlines, flyporter.com, the Porter call centre, an airport Porter customer-service counter, or onboard a Porter flight earn 2 VIPorter points per $1. The first $10,000 in combined net Porter spend per account per year earns this rate; after that you earn 0.5x. The cap resets each January 1.

1x: Eligible purchases Mastercard classifies as gas or transportation earn 1 VIPorter point per $1. The first $3,000 in combined net spend per year earns this rate; after that you earn 0.5x. Examples include gas stations, bus companies and car-rental merchants.

1x: Eligible purchases Mastercard classifies as dining or grocery earn 1 VIPorter point per $1. The first $5,000 in combined net spend per year earns this rate; after that you earn 0.5x.

1x: Eligible purchases Mastercard classifies as hotels earn 1 VIPorter point per $1. The first $3,000 in combined net spend per year earns this rate; after that you earn 0.5x.

0.5x: Other eligible purchases earn 0.5 VIPorter point per $1. Cash advances, cash-like transactions, interest, fees, payments, refunds and account credit/debit adjustments do not earn points. Every category cap resets on January 1.

Benefits and insurance

  • Annual 35% Porter Flight Discount Voucher

The primary cardholder earns one voucher after $25,000 in eligible net purchases in each 365-day period that starts on the account anniversary. It is typically available about 4–6 weeks later, and spend resets on the anniversary. The voucher only discounts the base fare on PorterClassic, Porter-operated flights. The primary cardholder and up to 3 companions must be on the same itinerary. Taxes and surcharges are not discounted. The voucher is valid for 12 months from issue. Using it on a one-way trip consumes it. Unused vouchers are cancelled if the account is closed or product-changed.

  • Porter Travel Benefits

Primary and additional cardholders, plus up to 8 companions on the same booking, can receive dedicated check-in, early boarding, and priority security where offered on eligible Porter-operated itineraries. After a delay they may receive priority re-accommodation. The VIPorter number linked to the card must be on the booking, and the account must be in good standing.

  • No VIPorter Points Expiry & Qualifying Spend

While the credit-card account stays open and in good standing, VIPorter points do not expire for lack of flying or redemption. Eligible monthly net purchases divided by 25, rounded up, count as VIPorter Qualifying Spend toward that year’s Avid Traveller progress. Primary and additional cardholders become Avid Travellers automatically.

  • Instacart+ Membership & Monthly Credit

BMO’s product page currently lists 3 months of Instacart+ and a $5 monthly Instacart credit. You must enrol as the page instructs. Eligibility, availability and terms follow Instacart and BMO rules then in force.

  • Out-of-Province/Country Emergency Medical Insurance

Canadian residents aged 64 or under on departure, with Canadian government health insurance and an account in good standing, are covered for the first 8 consecutive days after leaving their home province or territory, up to $5,000,000 per person. The trip does not have to be charged to this card. Coverage is only for sudden and unforeseeable emergencies. Pre-existing-condition stability and other exclusions apply. Contact the Operations Centre before treatment, or a claim may be limited or denied.

  • Car Rental – Collision/Loss Damage Insurance

You must rent from a commercial rental company for no more than 48 consecutive days and charge the entire rental, or eligible points, to this card. Where the law allows, decline the rental company’s CDW/LDW. Coverage is for theft or damage, valid loss-of-use and towing on a vehicle with a model-year MSRP of no more than $65,000. It is not third-party liability, personal-injury or property-damage liability insurance. Some vehicle types and rental conditions are excluded.

  • Common Carrier Insurance

After you charge the full ticket including taxes to this card or eligible points, a Canadian resident who dies or is dismembered from accidental bodily injury while a passenger on, boarding or leaving a licensed common carrier is covered up to $500,000 per person and $1,500,000 combined for all insured persons in one accident. Only the highest applicable benefit is paid once per person.

  • Flight Delay Insurance

After you charge the full commercial-airline ticket including taxes to this card or eligible points, a scheduled arrival or departure delayed more than 4 hours can reimburse reasonable extra accommodation and transportation caused by the delay, up to $500 per trip for all insured persons combined. Prepaid costs are not covered.

  • Baggage Insurance

After you charge the full common-carrier ticket including taxes to this card or eligible points before departure, checked or carry-on baggage that is lost, stolen or damaged is covered up to $500 per person, $1,000 combined per trip, and $500 per item. On an outbound trip only, checked baggage delayed more than 6 hours can reimburse essentials bought within 36 hours of arrival at the same limits. There is no delay coverage on the return to your primary residence.

  • Hotel Burglary Insurance

After you charge the full travel-accommodation cost including taxes to this card or eligible points, personal property lost or damaged in a burglary while you are a registered guest is paid at the lesser of replacement value, like-quality replacement cost, or repair. The combined limit is $1,000 per burglary for all insured persons, subject to the certificate’s reporting and evidence rules.

Purchase insurance

  • Purchase Security Insurance

Canadian residents who pay the full price including taxes of eligible personal property or a gift with this card or eligible points are covered for theft or damage worldwide within 90 days of purchase. The Operations Centre may repair, replace or reimburse at the purchase price. Purchase security and extended warranty share a $60,000 lifetime maximum per account. Cash, tickets, plants and animals, consumables/perishables, online purchases not yet received, and items left behind are among the exclusions.

  • Extended Warranty Insurance

You must also pay the full price with this card or eligible points, and the original manufacturer warranty must be valid in Canada. Coverage doubles the original warranty, up to one extra year, and pays the lower of repair or replacement under the original warranty. Lifetime warranties and separately purchased extensions are excluded. Items with an original warranty longer than 5 years must be registered within 1 year of purchase. This benefit shares the $60,000 lifetime account maximum with purchase security.
