Benefits and insurance

  • $200 Anniversary Lifestyle Credit

Complete one purchase of at least $200 in each account anniversary period to receive one $200 statement credit. The first anniversary period runs from the account-opening date to the first annual-fee renewal date. The credit posts within two billing cycles after the annual fee renews, and the account must be open and in good standing. You can receive it once per anniversary period. Switching away and back, or cancelling and reapplying, does not let you receive it twice in the same anniversary period.

  • Visa Airport Companion lounge membership

The primary card and each additional card must be registered separately in the Visa Airport Companion app or website. Each registered cardholder gets 6 complimentary lounge visits per membership year, which they or a guest travelling with them can use. After those visits, each visit is US$32 per person (the amount can change). Membership and visits renew automatically on the registration anniversary. Participating lounges, hours, and usage limits follow DragonPass’s current information.

  • Visa Infinite Privilege benefits

These include Priority Security Lane at select Canadian airports, parking and valet offers, Visa Infinite Luxury Hotel Collection, RSVP Rewards Diamond status, Dining Series, Wine Country, entertainment events, Troon Rewards Golf, and Concierge. Hotels, restaurants, wineries, events, and airport benefits all follow Visa’s enrolment, participating merchants, and then-current terms.

  • Car rental discounts

Prepaid Avis rentals booked with this Card can be up to 30% off the base rate, and non-prepaid bookings at least 10% off. Budget is up to 35% prepaid and at least 10% non-prepaid. The discount applies only to the base rate and is subject to booking, location, and rental-company terms.

  • Out-of-Province/Country Emergency Medical Insurance

Canadian residents covered by a Canadian government health plan for the entire trip, with an account in good standing, can receive sudden, unforeseeable emergency medical coverage after leaving their home province or territory. If you are under 65 on the departure date, coverage is up to $5,000,000 per person per trip for the first 22 consecutive days. If you are 65 or over, the first 3 days are covered. The trip does not have to be charged to this Card. Pre-existing or unstable conditions and other medical limits can affect coverage. Contact the Operations Centre before treatment when you can.

  • Trip Cancellation / Trip Interruption / Trip Delay

When you book, all or part of the trip cost including taxes must be charged to this Card, and the account must be in good standing. Cancellation for a covered reason listed in the certificate can reimburse non-refundable, non-transferable prepaid trip costs up to $2,500 per person per trip and $5,000 combined for all insured people. Interruption or delay after departure is up to $5,000 per person per trip and $25,000 combined. Accommodation and meals for a delayed return caused by a covered reason are up to $200 a day for up to 10 days per trip.

  • Car Rental – Collision/Loss Damage Insurance

A Canadian-resident primary cardholder must sign a non-renewable agreement with a commercial rental company, charge the full rental including taxes to this Card, and decline the rental company’s CDW/LDW. You can rent only one vehicle at a time, for no more than 48 consecutive days. Coverage can include theft or damage to a rental with an MSRP of no more than $85,000, valid towing, and loss-of-use. It does not provide third-party liability, property-damage, or personal-injury liability coverage.

  • Common Carrier Insurance

Canadian residents who charge the full common-carrier fare including taxes to this Card can receive up to $500,000 per person if they are accidentally injured while boarding, riding on, or leaving a licensed aircraft, bus, taxi, train, cruise, or similar common carrier, and the injury causes death or a specified loss of limb, sight, hearing, or speech listed in the certificate. Claim documents must show the fare was paid in full with this Card.

  • Flight delay, baggage, and hotel burglary insurance

An eligible scheduled commercial flight delayed more than 4 hours can reimburse qualifying expenses up to $1,000 combined for all insured people per trip. If an airline or other common carrier delays baggage more than 4 hours, or the baggage is lost, stolen, or damaged, loss/theft/damage is up to $1,000 per person and $2,500 combined (maximum $500 per item). Outbound delayed baggage can be used to buy essentials within 36 hours of arriving at the destination, up to $500 per person and $1,000 combined; this does not apply on the return. If you charge the full travel-accommodation cost to this Card, personal property lost, stolen, or damaged in a burglary at the accommodation is covered up to $2,500 combined per occurrence. Keep the police and property burglary reports.

Purchase insurance

  • Purchase Security Insurance

Canadian residents who charge the full purchase price of a personal item or gift to this Card, with an account in good standing, have worldwide coverage for theft or damage for the first 120 days from the purchase date. The insurer may repair, replace, or reimburse the purchase price. Purchase security and extended warranty share a lifetime maximum of $60,000 per account. Cash, tickets, animals and plants, consumables or perishables, online purchases not delivered and accepted, jewellery/furs in baggage not in your personal care, and items left behind are not covered.

  • Extended Warranty Insurance

The payment rules are the same as purchase security, and the original manufacturer’s warranty must be valid in Canada. Coverage triples the original warranty, up to two extra years, and pays the lower of repair or replacement cost for items the original warranty covers. If the original warranty is longer than five years, you must register within one year of purchase. This benefit shares the $60,000 lifetime account maximum with purchase security.

  • Mobile Device Insurance

Canadian residents who charge the full purchase price of a phone, smartphone, or tablet to this Card, or finance it through a fixed-term Canadian wireless contract and keep charging the monthly wireless bills to this Card, can have worldwide coverage for loss, theft, or accidental damage. Coverage for a device paid in full starts on day 121 and lasts up to two years. Coverage for a financed device starts with the first related transaction and lasts up to two years. Each claim is limited to $1,000, with at most one claim per account every 12 months and two claims every 48 months. Payment deducts 2% depreciation for each completed month and a 10% deductible. Repair or replacement must be approved first. Business, resale, used, or refurbished devices, accessories, batteries, and laptops are not covered.
