Banyan Group is an international hotel group headquartered in Singapore and founded in 1994. Unlike Marriott and Hilton, which have extensive networks of business and resort hotels, Banyan Group focuses more on luxury resorts, villas, spas, wellness, and destination hotels. Its flagship Banyan Tree properties can be destinations in their own right.

This guide covers Banyan Group’s hotel brands, the positioning of Banyan Tree, the withBanyan membership program, tiers, and stay benefits, and the group’s partnership with Accor.

Banyan Group

Banyan Group has grown into an international hospitality company covering hotels, resorts, spas, branded residences, dining, and retail, with more than 100 hotels and resorts worldwide.

Many readers initially confuse these two names:

Banyan Group = the hotel groupBanyan Tree = one hotel brand

Banyan Tree is only one brand within Banyan Group, but it is also the group’s best-known flagship luxury brand. The Banyan Tree experience is quite different from a typical urban five-star business hotel, with a particular focus on:

  • Private villas, private pools, island resorts, spas, wellness, honeymoons and couples' trips, natural settings, and hotel designs that incorporate local culture

One of Banyan Tree’s best-known products is the private Pool Villa. That is why the brand is so visible in destinations such as Phuket, the Maldives, and Bali.

Banyan Group hotel brands

Banyan Group now has a full brand portfolio rather than only Banyan Tree:

Hotel brand Positioning
Banyan Tree Flagship luxury brand
Banyan Tree Escape Nature, exploration, and upscale outdoor stays
Banyan Tree Veya Luxury wellness
Angsana Upscale resorts, families, and younger travellers
Garrya Minimalist design and wellness
Dhawa Lifestyle and design hotels
Cassia Hotel residences, families, and longer stays
Homm More accessible lifestyle hotels
Laguna Integrated resort destinations

For most travellers, the brands worth knowing best are Banyan Tree, Angsana, Garrya, and Cassia.

  • Banyan Tree

The group’s flagship luxury brand focuses on luxury resorts, villas, spas, natural surroundings, and privacy. Its cash rates are often among the highest in the portfolio, and it is the brand most people have in mind when they first consider Banyan Group.

  • Angsana

Angsana is younger and more energetic. Compared with Banyan Tree’s emphasis on couples, honeymoons, and privacy, Angsana puts more emphasis on families, friends, and activities. It can be a better fit for a family holiday with children.

  • Garrya

Garrya focuses on wellness and minimalist design. Properties often use natural materials and emphasize quiet, simplicity, and recovery. Travellers who like Japanese-inspired minimalism, wellness, and retreat-style hotels should watch this brand.

  • Cassia

Cassia is closer to a youthful hotel residence. Many properties have living rooms and kitchens, making them suitable for families, friends, or longer stays.

withBanyan loyalty program

Banyan Group’s own membership program is withBanyan, and registration is free.

It is not a traditional hotel points program centred on redeeming points for free nights. It is closer to:

Stays and spending → higher membership tier → better hotel treatment

In other words, think of withBanyan as a:

hotel-status and stay-benefits program.

withBanyan membership tiers

There are four tiers:

Tier Eligible nights Eligible spend
Wanderer Fewer than 4 nights Below US$1,000
Explorer 4–10 nights US$1,000–4,999
Voyager 11 or more nights US$5,000 or more
Luminary Invitation only Invitation only

The night and spending requirements are alternatives: meeting either one is enough.

After free registration, you receive Wanderer status. Even if you stay at Banyan Tree only once a year, registering first is worthwhile.

Eligible Nights are straightforward. Eligible Spend can include more than the room charge when the expense is posted to the room account, including hotel restaurants, bars, room service, minibars, spas, golf and sports, selected hotel activities, extra beds, and some early check-in or late check-out fees.

withBanyan benefits

Even the entry-level Wanderer tier provides benefits:

Benefit Wanderer Explorer Voyager Luminary
Up to 10% member rate
Welcome drink on eligible stays
Banyan Tree Gallery 15% off
Spa 15% off
Room upgrade 1 2 3
Late check-out
Early check-in
New-hotel Priority Stay Offer

Partnership with Accor

Banyan Group and Accor have had a long-term strategic partnership since 2016, covering hotel development, distribution, and membership systems.

Some Banyan Group hotels also participate in ALL Accor. At those properties, an eligible stay can earn ALL Reward Points and Status Points, and Accor points can be used according to the applicable rules.

To check whether a property participates, search for it on the Accor website. If its hotel page clearly shows ALL participation, review the earning and redemption terms before booking.

Is Banyan Group worth pursuing?

From a pure hotel-points perspective, Banyan Group is less suitable for repeatedly earning nights than Marriott, Hilton, or Hyatt. The portfolio is smaller, and withBanyan is not designed around redeeming points for free nights.

Its advantage is different: individual properties often offer distinctive resort experiences, especially Banyan Tree. If you enjoy islands, villas, spas, and luxury resorts, Banyan Tree is a brand worth adding to your travel list.
